Final Four Coming To N. Texas In 2014
ARLINGTON (CBS 11 News) ― The NCAA announced Wednesday that the men's Final Four will be played in Arlington in 2014.
North Texas is one of 10 communities which applied to become the hosts for the Final Four Men's basketball tournaments being played between 2012 and 2016.
The 2014 Final Four will be played at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington. The stadium will also host the 2010 NBA All-Star Game and the 2011 Super Bowl.
Also Wednesday, the NCAA announced the locations of the other Final Fours through the year 2016. They are: New Orleans in 2012, Atlanta in 2013, Indianapolis in 2015 and Houston in 2016.
A group representing North Texas including officials from the Dallas Cowboys, Big Twelve Conference and civic leaders made a 45 minute, high-tech Power Point presentation to the NCAA in Indianapolis last week.
In the presentation, the committee proposed that the stadium could hold a capacity of 90,000 for a college basketball game.
2010 will mark the second time North Texas has hosted the men's Final Four. Reunion Arena in Dallas hosted the championship in 1986.
