    Where Did the Turbines Go?

I was recently visited by a friend from out of town who last visited me about 10 years ago. He reminded me of something that i had pretty much forgotten existed. There were three large wind turbines that were viewable from 635 somewhere between MacArthur and Freeport. I was surprised that he even recognized the area since it has changed somewhat. Anyone know what ever happened to those three turbines?

It was part of a little publicity deal that TXU had that I think was called "Energy Park", there was solar there too and it was supposed to showcase alternative energy solutions they were working on.

They took them down a long time ago, my understand was they never really generated any useful energy, it was just there for feel good tours. When they closed the alternative energy setup they also closed access to the park they had there.

    Thanks John

Because i only ever saw those giants from a distance, I never knew exactly where they were. Where is the former park located?

Was not sure of a good thread for this, but seeing as it was about a wind turbine thought it would fit. Found this old article online and was wondering if this was still going though.

Addison hopes to be among the first with a new elevated storage tank that would double as a work of art.

Even more exciting to city officials is that wind turbines on top will supply enough power to run the tower as well as street lights on Arapaho Road. The $5 million project will also serve as a community learning center.

I love my town. We always seem to be on the more progressive side of things, from alternate energy to mass transit to transit-oriented development. Now if we can get a gay district installed in some of those neglected buildings on the west side that would be peachy.
