Galveston Island - Memorial Day Weekend

Its been years since I've been to Galveston, so some friends and I decided to take a road trip over the holiday weekend. In the past I've only been to the seawall, but this time I got to see the rest of the city. I enjoyed learning about the city's past from its historical sights more than I enjoyed the beach.

From the website it looks like both towers are about sold out.

Good pix, but they remind me why I always take the kids to Matagorda Beach instead. I went there over a holiday weekend once (can't recall if it was Memorial Day, 4th of July, or Labor Day) and it was just as empty and pristine as ever. Can't wait to go back and check out the new nature-oriented facilities, including kayak tours of the back bay.
