I'll just post the photos I randomly pulled down last month as I get the chance. Here's one to start.

^Nice pics, Troy.
Coincidently, I was there last week, so I thought I'd go ahead and post some of my pics.
If you've not taken a quick getaway, I'd recommend it.
Although the ride from Dallas is about the same as to Austin, it feels much shorter because the traffic is so much less than to Austin.
OKC is developing into a decent city. I went down to the Bricktown Canal during the afternoon, when it was sweltering, so you don't see a whole lot of people out in the attached pics.
But that evening, it was packed with people. Many more people out on the street than you see in downtown Dallas, and the climate is very similar to ours!
OKC's riverwalk doesn't yet compare to San Antonio's in terms of attractions, but the city leaders have put in place a feature that will be better than San Antonio, as the city gets larger and matures.
And I'll get in one dig on Dallas. The Bricktown Canal is just another example of cities across the country, leveraging their waterways to create a public amenity that enhances economic development and quality of life.
While our TRP is not intended to be an off channel riverwalk, we absolutely should not be ruining our park area with a damn freeway running through it.
(By the way, the statue of the Native American warrior is atop the State Capitol. I really like it.)

Excellent. You guys are making me feel all kinds of guilty. I went to OKC back in May, over Memorial Day weekend, and took lots of pics, intending to post them. I *STILL* have not gotten around to it. Maybe that should be my project for tonight!! Though many of them look similar to what you guys have posted (we too took the ride down the canal, went by the capitol, etc), I do have a few that I'm pretty sure no one else has. I was born in OKC and raised for a bit in Norman, so it feels a little like home still.
I tell everyone...I smile just because...I've got a city love...
I was there last Nov myself. Here are some pictures I took then. There downtown is on the rise with more residential and businesses moving there. Very walkable and dense IMO.

^Nice pics WTx.
TG2, since you're a native, perhaps you know this: do you know what building this is (see attachment)? It's very ornate, kind of like our Wilson Building on steroids. It appeared that it is being rehabbed, and I'm just curious about the story behind it.Originally Posted by Trolleygirl2

Also here is an article in the Daily Oklahoman about it and the Colcord Hotel, pictured in WTx's post.
Something from the OKC city government about the project.
Info from the hotel developer.
Hope this helps! It looks like an interesting building...glad to see it's being redone. It really is beautiful in person too.
*Edit: How could I have forgotten? The official website.

What's that golden building outside of downtown being converted?
Thanks for the info. OKC's hotels have really been bad, but now they've got two decent ones and it appears another one on the way. This one was the architectural style that could become a classy place to stay. Good news!

It's funny, whenever I tell people here in PHX that I lived in OKC for 5 years, they feel so sorry for me. For those who've never been, its really not a bad city. What I have found with OKC is that it is one of the least economically stratified major cities. While there are some extremely rich and poorest of the poor, it's not like Dallas where there are so many rich and poor and some in the middle.
Does anyone have any pictures of the Chesapeake Energy campus? It truly beautiful. It consists of numerous 3 story stately buildings which resemble Harvard. From what I've heard, theyve added several buildings over the last 2 years.
They crank one out every two months. I took on at the intersection of Western and 63rd the other day while I had my camera on the road... that light takes forever I swear.
I'll see if I can find it...
OK, now those are really damn good C Troy! I am going to have to start posting all of my OKC photo shots in here to share...
From where did you take those last photos?

Nevermind, I figured it out after a short walk -- it's the Parking Garage Dowell built for his MidTown projects...

Always a pleasure to be able to check in on a city through your lens. Especially these harbingers of progress. Who would have thought that OKC could become a more and more interesting city to photograph? Great to see them following through with Bricktown and the "riverwalk" re-development. And downtown looking pretty darn clean, even sleek. Terrific!![]()
Amazing. These are, in my opinion, the best of my dozen shoots or so:
I used to frame my photos but it was such a hassle. Also I think two or three shoots I did appear to be missing... I probably forgot what photobucket those were in.
P.S. C Troy, did you get my PM relating to all of your OKC pics?
