Outstanding work! Thanks for sharing your pictures of God's country with the forum.
Did you eat the 72oz steak before your trip to the Canyon?

Thanks, Texan#1, for the pictures.

... you must have done some pretty heavy duty hiking to get your jeans all torn up like that.

I suggest that if you're planning on camping here to wait until it gets warmer cuz we were freezing our asses off at night!
Great pictures, I stopped there once years ago on the way back from Albuquerque. Cool place.
Having all but grown up in Palo Duro Canyon (on and off horseback), I didn't remember it looking so good. Beautiful in fact. You captured the colorful strata of that rock and the sunlight better than most postcards I've seen. I have a new appreciation for it's natural beauty now. But camping out? Insanity...
Did you happen to make it downtown to see the new Performing Arts Center which opens January 20th? It's very curvilinear in it's way, supposedly mimicking one of the cliff formations in the canyon, and faced with a red sandstone. I got a tour over the holidays and I was quite impressed with the building designed by Holzman-Moss Architects. Otherwise, can't think of a lot to keep a city boy busy around those parts. I certainly did a lot of "resting" while there.
Thanks for these great pics.

^Very cool!
Awesome!!!
^Amarillo's new performing arts center is really a nice facility that is finally suitable for the City's excellent symphony. Great to see my hometown gets some pub on the board.

I always thought that building didn't fit in with the area at all. The curviness of it, to me, lends itself more to Corpus Christi, and some of the newer architecture that's going up around the university there. Hopefully this will provide an impetus to breath some life back into downtown Amarillo. Lots of buildings sitting empty up there. Nice pics BTW.
I'm proud to tell people I'm from Amarillo, extra proud when I tell it to another Texan.Originally Posted by WestTexan
