Though you seem to be much more enjoyable when you're in the usual mood: sarcastic and full of one liners.

I pick a weekday evening....happy hour time, when the drinks are cheap. We can count all the poele on Main St. Anyway, I'm up for a weekday after work because that's when most people do mixers and because you might find a better turnout. Weekends are so hard.

How about a weekday in the first week of June? OK, I'll be upfront, that's my b-day week and I didn't choose those days in a cheap plea for gifts from people I don't know. Merely that I'll be in carousal -- and, at this age, served with a large helping of denial -- mode all week and might as well kill two birds with one stone.

Wednesday is the only day that would work for me next week- otherwise I'm booked on every other night. The following week I am open on Monday and Tuesday evening, possibly Wednesday.

If we did a Wednesday, we can watch the free concert too.

Sorry TG...that is my description...lol jk

I'd say casual...or whatever you wear to work...whatever...it does not really matter.

Shall we say 6:00 or 6:30?

And, yes, how indeed will we know each other since Iron Cactus has become a veritable Grand Central Station of hip, trendy, gorgeous people? How will I distinguish the gorgeous dallasmetropolis crew from the rest? It's like South Beach without palm trees down there.

Yes, if there's a reserved table(s) that would solve the wandering-around-in-vain-wondering-which-drunkards-are-your-drunkards problem. Maybe we should say everyone who's interested should post by, what, the morning of June 1 and the reservation could be made that day?

Oh I forgot to tell you........I am terrible with faces- good with names and dates- but terrible with faces. That's why I'll make such a great politician, because I can always nod and smile at people and shake their hand and talk and look interested in what they are saying........until they go, "why are you looking at me like that? You know who I am, right? I'm your neighbor, you know the one who does your lawn every two weeks?"

That's a true story but what's worse is I ran into Asst. City Manager Ryan Evans- been to his office plenty of times, been in meetings with him, see his picture all the time okay, so it's not like I don't know what the guy looks like- and he started talking to me and I looked all confused and finally I said, "I'm sorry, have we met?" And he sorta blinked a few times and said, "Um, yeah I'm the Asst. City Manager, um and uh...." And I said, "Oh sure Ryan Evans, I know you, I'm just terrible with faces." He said that he wished he had that problem. Really, it's a curse.

I'll wear a stinkin' name so y'all look for me. It wil read: "trolleygirl"

    Oh, hey wait a minute.

I'm a bit far away from Dallas right now. Count me out, Harry. I DO wish I could be there - especially considering all the new (to me) faces I could meet.

As much as I'd like to slam numerous beverages down w/all...oh, and eat and talk - I'm going to have to just "hear 'bout it" from you all. But, whenever I get back to town, I want to go to trolleygirl's hangout for a meet-up. That and/or a few other places.

Iron Cactus update: They don't take reservations but, for parties of 10 or more, they advise to call about an hour ahead of when we plan to show up. So I'll call again tomorrow (Wed.), 5-ish, and tell them it's a group of 10, and it will be under my real first name (Cary).

Seems like a wacky way to run a restaurant business but whatever.

    Reminder: Iron Cactus

For those of you who want to hang out for a bit tonight and chit chat with other forumers, we are meeting in downtown at The Iron Cactus at 6:30pm. Hope to see many of you there.

Atlanta sucks? Interesting you say that as people always seem to be making comparisons among Atlanta, Dallas and Denver (regional power centers, major airports, convention towns, etc.) Why did you hate it so?

Anyway, topic: if I'm a little late to the shindig tonight (coming from FW; possibility of more t-storms), don't be afraid to get the party started without me. (But I'm sure you didn't need to be reminded of that.)

And, once again, the table should be under the name "Cary"
