    DFWU and Google Chrome

Anyone else use Chrome on Vista or Win7?

When you click new posts, then the link to the forum, vBulletin usually sends you to the latest post in the thread. I just installed Google Chrome last night and noticed it doesn't take you to the newest post in the thread via the New Posts search, instead it keeps you on the top of the page even though the url is correct and shows the permalink. I'll probably switch back to Firefox cause I visit mostly vBulletin forums.

Doesn't work right for me either. When I'm on the Chrome, I usually click on the 'go to last post' button and scroll up from there.

    Some-time web site designer/hacker here.

It also happens with Opera. The cause is obvious: the forum software generates a URL like this:

    showthread.php?p=363536#post363536&conly=

That's not actually valid. The part after the "#" refers to an in-page anchor, and if a browser is following standards, the anchor name would be "post363536&conly=". The actual anchor in the page, though, is "post363536". IE is "broken" -- it continues parsing the URL and breaks at the "&". I guess Firefox is "broken" in the same way.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, though. I've heard that it won't be an issue soon.
