This is a new high rise condo project... not exactly in Dallas, though...

I wish the lakes here, especially White Rock would start to get condos like Lake Texoma. Imagine the Rockwall shore of Lake Ray Hubbard with Condo towers.

This is the condo tower thats right by Grandpappy's Marina where our boat is stored. There's a lot of talks about this project up on the lake this year. Word through the grapevine says that there are supposed to be 5 towers in total for this project!!
The first tower(pictured above) was not able to be built until it was either completly sold out or nearly. This is the same set up that they are planning with the other towers.
The property is not extremly cheap either. Each floor up the price increases by $30k. There are two penthouses that are two stories each, one on each side of the building. Also each unit gets a enclosed, private garage, and the property is gated access only.
And also not too far away is Monarch Ridge. Another development of luxury lake homes. I've driven down there a few times and its slowly, but surely, building up. Almost each home is three stories or taller so as to see over the trees to the lake. And not too far down as well is Ross Perot's compound which is one of the few properties on the Texas side of the lake that has direct water access. I guess money can buy you some things!

Crescentboi,
The property is in a beautiful location, all right... I checked out the site yesterday and was pretty impressed by Grandpappy's. The restaurant, especially looked good.
With a name like "Grandpappy's", I expected a lot of cornpone, like a poster of some old codger drinking whiskey out of a jug... but the place is almost as polished as a disneyland resort.
One of the things you'd expect a major metropolis to have is an outlying set of resorts for weekend outings from the city. The Texoma resorts certainly fill the bill.
The Texoma coastline's scenic beauty also is impressive... you'd think you were somewhere on the California coast, except for the lack of frigid water, I guess.

Grandpappy's certainly is a wonderfull place. Although the restaurant, The Point, is something else. I have never had a good experience up there for dinner. The food is pretty bad and the service is awefull. But a lot of the locals go there, its I guess their "special" restaurant in town. So you'll see all the boating people up there in very casual clothes and then the locals all dressed up. I don't know if they really like all the "city folk!" up there!
One nice thing is though that sometimes on weekends during the summer they have live bands playing outside which is nice. My family is friends with the owner and so we go up there fairly often just for drinks on the patio.
Texoma is a wonderfull lake with lots to offer. There's not very many big resorts, but a lot of homey, smaller places. The boating activities up there are wonderfull. I know in our Marina (Grandpappy's) the boats range from 15 feet to 58 feet. There's also a lot of sail boats, which when there's a lot on the open water of the lake its quite tranquil.
If you, or anyone for that matter, goes up there for the weekend I would recommend visiting Butterfly and Deer Coves. They are wonderfull spots to either beach, or tie up the boats to eachother and just relax.

Crescentboi,
Thanks for the suggestion.
I've recently gotten into a "back-to-nature" mood and I'm busy collecting parks and beaches to my list. I might check those out next week.

Aceplace, thanks for posting this! I had been wondering if this project ever went anywhere - and yet, here it is. So up to 5 condo towers, eh? That would be very interesting indeed.
I also, as rantanamo said up above, would really like to see some lakefront condo tower districts in Dallas as well. That would be something!

Diamond Pointe is a private, secure condominium community development that encompasses and enhances a lifestyle of "Being on the Water". The complex is planned to have six high rise towers offering breathtaking views of Lake Texoma and the pristine surrounding lands.
Construction is complete on the first tower that is 10 stories, with 14 spacious 2,180 square foot residencies, plus 2 penthouses that are 2 stories, each with approximately 3,400 square feet of air conditioned living space. Construction of phase two, which includes 13 stories and the beginning of the community center, is about to begin. Amenities within these residencies will be equal to those found in fine custom built homes. Each condominium owner will have a 2 car garage plus an additional storage area. With a first condominium floor elevation of 740 feet, approximately 124 foot above lake level, these high-rise towers will become a North Texas landmark.

Covered boat slips, complete with electrical and water service, are already in place in Wisdom Cove, paralleling the eastern side of the property. Each resident will be afforded the opportunity of a private, direct access location for their boat or yacht. The due North-South configuration of Widsom Cove and the enclosing high bluffs, together with our breakwater, offers excellent protection against adverse weather conditions. The incline elevator, now operational, will shuttle residents and their guests to and from the most modern boat slip facilities on the lake. This direct access from residence to boat slip is unique, as most boats/yachts are kept in marinas, requiring owners to travel some distances.
Pools, fitness center, guest rooms, gazebo picnic areas and a spacious community building will be constructed within the natural tree studded landscape. This pristine park like acreage will offer the resident a serenity and seclusion offsetting any thoughts of "closeness" that may be associated with a condominium environment. The community building will have a fireplace, bar facilities and a complete kitchen/food preparation area to support the planned functions of the residents and the ongoing activities scheduled by the resident manager and staff. Numerous services will be offered as Diamond Pointe evolves.
The twenty acre site, bordered by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers protected lands, will be fenced with a gated entrance to ensure privacy and security. The Resident Manager's home, in conjunction with the Homeowners Association office will be located on the property. The Resident Manager will be the manager of the Homeowners Association and be responsible for the continuous tasks and activities that support the common interest of residents. In addition, the Resident Manager will support the individual needs of each resident with the numerous services that will be desired.
While the above outlines a simplistic overview of Diamond Pointe Condominiums and Yacht Club, the true attraction will be the "on the water" lifestyle that is only available at Diamond Pointe.

I wonder what the status is of the possible future condo buildings. (A year later.)
