Smart Fortwo lands Fort Worth dealership

Dallas Business Journal
The Smart Fortwo — a new 104-inch-long car that is being touted as a fuel-efficient and economical nonhybrid — has a new dealership home in Fort Worth.

Park Place Motorcars Fort Worth says a new facility called “smart center” will be housed inside the dealership for eco-friendly buyers who are looking to purchase one of the fuel-efficient vehicles.

The smart center will be the only Smart Fortwo dealership in Tarrant County, with the only other North Texas dealership at Park Place Motorcars Dallas.

The smart center in Fort Worth is set to sell three trim levels of the vehicle, the dealership said in a prepared statement.

The Smart Fortwo coupe, which gets an estimated 41 miles to the gallon on the highway, is priced at $11,590, while the so-called passion coupe and the passion cabriolet are priced at $13,590 and $16,590, respectively.

The Fortwo has to meet the same crashworthiness regulations as any other passenger car. You can drive a Hummer if your goal is to make sure the other guy dies, but aside from driving a tank, you take your chances whenever you go out on the road. So yes, I'd feel safe... and cool! :)

It's nice to see that it's gotten below 12k. That's finally at a price point where you're not spending more on fuel efficiency than you would on additional fuel.
