Fort Worth Tandy Subway
One of the refurbished ex-District of Columbia PCC cars that rode on the subway rail system in downtown Fort Worth for many decades is here:

That sale restarts every time (so far) there is no winning bid after close of auction. Just do a quick search using the title 'M&O Subway' if you desire to find the next reincarnation.
Auctions aren't too uncommon of a way for transit organisations to rid themselves of rolling stock not in use anymore, and the like. It's pretty cool.
I want one! ;)
I saw that too. Pretty funny.

They've got one, but I sure bet they could use another. If they had enough cars, they could run more often and take more time to fix up the more used ones... only $5,000, too, i hope they pick it up, or some enthusiast picks it up and donates it.

Their barn is full. No room for more horses.
Another part of the problem with buying these cars is that they are setup for platform loading subway operations. The doors are 3 feet off the ground and all on the right side. The reason you haven't seen the first Tandy car running is that it is in the barn being modified to work on MATA's track.

The whole 3 foot step-up for the doors was something I was wondering about as well.

The one saving grace on the front and middle door, though, is that they are the original door openings, and underneath that skin are the original steps. Some of the mechanical and electrical mechanism was placed in the stepwells, but it can be relocated.
The Tandy car is, at best, a stop-gap measure to take some of the load off of the historic fleet. I daresay they need to look at some replica cars, with ADA accessibility and air conditioning at the least, if they are not willing to run modern European style streetcars.

The CDTMA study seems to be leading to a new organization tentatively named Dallas Streetcar, Inc., but until that comes around, all parties are pushing hard for extension of the MATA's system into downtown. Hopefully they can come up with an agreeable route that they can build within the next year or two. There is still money left over from the last extension that was earmarked for the West End extension, but it is not enough to get the line into the West End.

I thought that the Arts District Loop was going to be next? Is there enough money to do that, at least?

The actual route of the next extension is very fluid right now. There are several goals that MATA is trying to accomplished, and it may be more important to connect to the St. Paul DART station than to loop the track in order to maintain current funding.

How long until a decision is finally made and construction begins? I take my friends on the trolley alot, and they always ask me, and I always ask the conductor, who says 'hopefully before long'. is there any more concrete estimations than that? I hope it's soon...

This is kinda interesting.
I was overly curious about the fact the winning bidder of the train car was an eBay newbie. So, I looked into the bid history and look what happened to the auction:

Oops, a retraction.

Speaking of ebay and selling trains et al. Ran across some auction stuff on a nosecone of a monorail consist from WDW.
I'm sure there are people who may not like monorails, may not fathom having a freaking train at their abode, but - this is still pretty interesting!
This guy bought the thing for $20K USD:

Yeah, if it wasn't in the guys front yard, lol. Pretty cool though. I remember reading on some website that when they built the monorail at disney everyone said it was the future of mass transit. I think I'll stick with light rail.

Well, it's like those people who buy junked airliners and turn them into houses. It's interesting, but certainly not for me.
