Delicious, a new tapas restaurant by Stephan Pyles in the arts district.

Sounds like SP is pretty charged up about the Arts District.

From the article:
Pyles thinks his new restaurant will be an important place for the Arts District because diners can slip in and get back out before opera, symphony and theater performances at a growing number of nearby venues.
That would actually be very, very nice. My daughter is going to subscribe to the DSO symphony series again next year (her grandmother paid for last year's subscription, and she loved it), and the only thing she likes as much as good music is good food! It'll be a lot nicer than the current itinerary, which involves grabbing a hot dog at the 7-11 or going up to Denny's after the concert.

I am curious to see if he has found a way to put it in the JP Morgan Chase Tower Dome just off of Ross. After reading the article with this section "Pyles is in lease negotiations for about 2,000 square feet on Ross Avenue, mere blocks from his two-year-old namesake restaurant," which only allows for a limited number of locations in current constructed buildings. This quote also "Restaurant consultant and designer Bruce Russo said he's a believer in the 2,000- to 3,000-square-foot concepts, since they're easy to manage and economical to staff."
leads me to think the Empty dome facing the Meyerson could be perfect for a concept like this. Course I have no knowledge is the Dome has any reasonable utilities that would make this at all possible but it does have 3,919 sqft on its ground level and 2,531 sqft on its second floor circular walkway. Its a stretch but I could see the buildings owners actually coming to Pyles to solve the problem of filling the space with a unique restaurant concept, considering the uniqueness of the Chase Tower Dome which historically has been almost impossible to lease. The location looks out over the Lon Star sight but looks right down the street at the Meyerson perfect for just stopping by as they are suggesting in the article. "Pyles said the new restaurant would cost about $1 million to open, paid by a combination of the landlord and partners." I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Pyles would be intrigued by the challenge of the space and proceed with making it work. Course it could end up in the Belo Mansion retail space facing Flora but it doesn't look like there is much patio space there and the Chase tower Dome already has a reasonable size patio too.

I think it has a glass sky light in the middle of the dome if so you could do a vent in the middle and an open kitchen in the middle so the customers can watch the tapas being created.... kind of like a show... i understand they did a little of that in the current kitchen at his restaurant.

That space - The Rotunda, I think it's called - is used for events. I doubt it would be made into a restaurant.

It has been made into a restaurant before. Of course, it was for a movie. That movie with Elizabeth Hurley and the dude from "Friends".

There was an article in the DMN months ago ( I think it was posted somewhere on the forum) that said the Rotunda had been looked at by possible buyers before as a possible restaurant location. I think it would make an awesome restaurant venue. You definitely wouldn't mistake it for anyplace else.

I think there was an article by the DMN that said they were looking for tenants for the Rotunda and since they have it listed on their website for Lease I am considering it as a long term lease space not temporary events but I could be wrong its all just spec.

I think you're right. I happened to be coming up this street yesterday evening and there was definitely something "huge" going on.

The event was a benefit preview party. The restaurant doesn't open for at least another week.
By the way, they WAY oversold this event. There were nearly 1,000 people there -- they even opened up the lobby of 2100 Ross to accommodate the overflow. Inside, outside, and in the building lobby, it was shoulder to shoulder. Just getting to the bar was a major pain.
I can't really make a comment on the food or the interior, because with that many people, you couldn't get a clear picture of what the place looks like, and you couldn't get anywhere near the food.

I heard loud music coming from this place and had to check it out last night. The patio had a good crowd and it looked very nice. They seem to be doing well.

I was in Dallas for Christmas and ate at Samar. I tried items from each of the 3 sections (Spanish, Indian, and Mediterranean) and loved every item. Samar along with Hattie's in Bishop Arts District are two places I am looking forward to revisiting next time I am in Dallas.
