A large section of apartments has been torn down to make for new development. I was able to identify only Ashton Point and the Skilllman vetenary clinic The ashton point was rubble but a sprayed out sign remained when i shot the area. The block markers hadn't been touched yet. Photo 1 Rubble pile from one complex.

A a new town Center is going in here, not sure if that means apartments or retail development.

Anyone have any information on this? Sure would appreciate it.

You were in my neighborhood! I live a 10 minute walk from those pictures. :)

There's a ton of discussion in the lake highlands v2 thread on this project. Completion, I believe, is scheduled for 2010.

Additional info:

The demo started on the South side of the property, and includes everything upto Walnut Hill, and includes the first complex on the North side of Walnut hill (as you probably guessed based on the fences). The DART rail station is going to be put in on the North/East corner of the property (north of Walnut Hill). I believe at this poitn we are approximately 2-3 months away from demo being completed. There's a lot of dirt to be moved to create the site - something along the lines of about 10-12 months worth before new buildings will rise.

You might want to swing by in a couple months to get a picture of the "fields". There are some really nice trees on this property.

I have yet to see an any announcements regarding any committed retail/restaurants yet. Anyone else hear anything through the grapevine? I've contacted the developers, putting in my request for a PotBelly's, a Trader Joe's and an Einstein's. :)

maybe this thread should be renamed NE Dallas: Lake Highlands Town Center since this will be such a large project and doesn't need to be lost in a thread that encompasses all of Lake Highlands.

Ugh, anything but PotBelly's. Jimmy John's are better than PotBelly's. Hell, I'd take Quizno's over PotBellys.

Ugh, ditto on Potbellys. I can't stand that place. Tin Star, Pei Wei, Cafe Express are much better choices, IMO.

Hmm. I guess that's why they say different strokes for different folks. I like Tin Star. Quiznos I can do without. Cafe Express... good food, if you don't mind leaving hungry or ordering two meals. :)

Not sure. Some folks love it, some don't. My only suggestion to everyone in Lake Highlands, call the developer to voice your preferences. I've talked to them on the phone and emailed them twice. :)

Nothing if you like overpriced, tiny sandwiches and a "veggie sandwich" that consists of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and cheese.
