I am a Sim City enthusiast and decided to post some pictures of my current city. It is currently around 1.5 million people.

This is the beginning of my city. The dead ends will someday occupy my City Hall, Farmer's Market, Courthouse and Police HQ.

A zoomed out view as the city filled out a little more, with accompaning farmland.

The first low density suburb across the river, similar to Oak Cliff. It would be 100 years before this little burg was changed to a dense part of the city.

The original city has grown just a bit.

The next little suburb pops up. It too will be gobbled up soon.

The original suburb sprouts a University and high tech industrial area.

The main city has now grown to its borders on the east side.

A close look at the original downtown, the most vibrant part of the city, thanks to the solid urban design principles and lack of freeways.

A shot at night. You can see the urbanity across the river taking its urban form. If you look close at the lower right, you might see a familiar building.

Up the river.

Across the river, same time.

A later shot of the same area, as the land has been developed.

Same time, a little lower, with no land left.

Two familiar buildings...

Two more familiar buildings.

I've resisted playing SimCity for awhile... I've wasted too many hours of my life on that. I'm jealous of Fountain Place!

I quit playing heavily years ago, but still tweak my region every now and then. What do y'all think about Simcity Societies? I'm kinda on the fence about it.

ps. FoUTA, do you have reunion tower? Its buried somewhere at Simtropolis.

Socities sucks if you want any kind of realism. HUGE disappointment to the people waiting for a new version of SimCity.

When EA basically dissolved Maxis the future of SimCity was doomed. Will Wright wasn't even involved in the development of Societies.

I believe Tilted Mill (http://www.tiltedmill.com/) is developing Societies now

Anyhoo, back on topic, Ive always wondered why no Sim City game ever supported building One-Way streets. Most cities' downtowns have them.

^ Someone in here always has to add controversy to a seemingly innocent thread. its sickening.

My desire in this thread was to aquaint my beloved forum members with the fabulous city of Monterrey, Mexico. It is by far the most urban city in this part of the world especially with the tragic total destruction of New Orleans. I am trying to be sensitive to the needs of the sensitive members in here, especially those who would be uptight uptownites, so could you please let me know if you are such a person so I can do my best to avoid posting anything that would offend you in the future? Thank you.

I got SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition (it includes the Rush Hour expansion pack) from"Santa" for Christmas. Even though my s/o thinks I'm a big ole nerd, she's happy to indulge my nerdiness. It's the only game I own!! But I figure now that I have more free time, I may as well do something fun for a change. Anyway, I am just now learning it. So I might have to rely on y'all for help from time to time. Stand by...

I haven't even seen these new ones myself, but I still say SimCity 2000 is the king.

No way! I'm building a much better city than Dallas.

My s/o decided to buy a copy for herself......so now we compare our cities. We play for an hour or so before bed....I know, biggest nerd lesbian couple...EVER!

Anyway, she started with an agrarian city on a flat piece of land- the city is in a square tucked inside a brick of farm...it's pretty silly but she has more people than I do. So far. She got a State Fair and a convention center on the second day she played. I'm hating on her about now, but I'm still having fun with unleashing Robotic T-Rex to destroy stuff. And just getting used to all the driving controls- I'm terrible at driving in real life, even worse in Sim City.

So that's sort of where I'm at right now- very, very green at it.
