Noticed today that the Zuzu on Hillcrest across from SMU has closed rather suddenly, along with the adjacent cell phone store.

Also noticed that the two 1950s garden apartment buildings on the northeast corner of Knox and Abbott have been cleared out, and one is now undergoing asbestos removal.

I couldn't find anything in the archives - anyone know what's happening with these two sites?

I noticed that yesterday as well. That Abbott/Knox building wasn't so attractive, and the land is prime, so it'll be interesting to see what goes in there. Most of the others along Abbott will be a challenge to redevelop since the units are mostly individually-owned.

The small apartment building at Abbott & Armstrong has also just been torn down, along with a couple pricey houses on Armstrong and one bordering Abbott (on Crescent?). The building continues...

The Abbott at Knox apartments are being replaced by a three story condo building. The prices will start at $850,000 and go to $1.5 million. Expected to be completed in 18 months.

I noticed the sign today on the fence around the Knox/Abbott development, which will become "Highland Gates on Katy Trail." The site is www.highlandgatesonkatytrail.com, and although there isn't much info on the site, the townhomes will start at $898,000 for 2,300 sq.ft. Do the math on that $/sq.ft. equation. I'll pass.
