Has anyone seen all the changes around the upper east? There is an awful ugly "DELUXE MOTEL" which has a massive lot next door where I've been seeing bulldozers moving dirt...
Anyone know what's going to be built here? I think the motel is also going bye-bye...

The owner of the gas station on the corner of Live Oak and Washington sold out about 5 months ago. He said they sold to somebody developing an Assisted Living Facility. I can only assume it's somehow involved with Baylor. They seem to be growing from Expo Park to Exall Park. :huhcld:

The lot next to Deluxe Motel is owned by the Seminary. Not really anything on their Web Site about more buildings except the new Student Housing at Swiss and Washington. I would sure love to see the Deluxe come down.

In addition to these changes, there are new condo's going up called 'CIELO' right between the apartments at liberty and the La Vista townhomes. Being built by the same developer as the 'La Vine' townhomes in Uptown...

This sure opened up a great view of Downtown from the CityView Apartments at Live Oak and Haskell. Those folks have got to be thrilled.

You'd better hurry up - there's only about 1/8th of it left.

Well, nothing was left standing when I got there. They made quick work of this one. But I shot some photo of the remains there, plus some other building that could go The Live oak area looks like it will eventually brought around. It is looking better.
I will load some some photos shortly

That brown AT&T building probably won't be going anywhere -- its the long distance switch for most of Dallas. (old AT&T versus renamed SBC) One of the 4 old Bell buildings downtown is the local switch. Switches, really. Its an ATT *owned* building, versus leased space.
Its the sort of complex that isn't casually moved.
(my information is from a few years ago, but I doubt much has changed) :juggle:

You are correct. If something happened to that building, it would be VERY disruptive to voice communications in the area. It isn't going anywhere.
