Someone I know has been pondering relocating to a premium condominium property. He was wondering how isolated condos (not rental properties) are and how quiet they are?
The gentleman is looking to purchase a high rise residence in Uptown.
Responses much appeciated - thanks.

I have lived in a condo (8/9th floor) for a year. I never hear the neighbors, though I do hear planes--Lemmon Ave is a flight path for Love Field. The only surprise to me was that I could smell my neighbors' dinner.

Thanks for [being the only one] responding. I appreciate the info.

I lived in a Turtle Creek condo for three years. Noise was an issue. Jets flew by fairly often, and the were loud, especially the 6 a.m. flight from Love to Houston. Also, prior to my moving in the people above me had upgraded to the exposed concrete floor look (the building's sound-buffer-flooring rule was not being enforced). Thereafter, I was treated to the sounds of their footsteps. I recall that some shoes (high heels?) were especially distracting, like living below Seabiscuit. Finally, one general tip for your friend. They should ask if the plumbing risers are cast iron or, more likely, plastic. Cast iron pipes don't reverberate much, so they're quiter. Plastic pipes allow you to hear the water rushing by everytime someone flushes.

Units at $500K and under. Stonesleigh, Vendome (TC), The Plaza (TC), all have a select few units in this price range.
My advice to him is to look at maybe townhomes as there are more in this price range - anywhere in the Uptown/TurtleCreek corridor.
