This was just posted on an Urban Exploration board by a usually-reliable source.

This morning while getting ready for work, I heard a news story on NBC 5 that the city of Fort Worth will soon be demolishing the old Armour & Swift meat packing plant, along with the old power plant and any other abandoned buildings that are currently 'eye sores'.

While the place is pretty trashed out now, it is an awesome place to get your UE feet wet. It was the first place I ever explored and to be honest, I'm somewhat sad to see it go.

As for the power plant, I've never been there. Guess I better hurry up.

I tried looking up the news story on NBC's website, but couldn't find anything. I think the story will probably be repeated as time goes by.
The area around old buildings are the most likely place for The T's plans for a Stockyards rail station on the DTFW-Grapevine-DFW(-Carrollton-Addison-Plano) line. The rumor needs confirmation, but it would take some serious bucks to turn the crumbling buildings into any sort of TOD... on the other hand, if it can be done, it'll happen in Fort Worth.

Not sure about this one. The Armour plant was up for sale recently, and I don't think the Swift plant was part of it. I could be wrong, though. As for the old power plant (if we're thinking of the same thing, the one on the river in downtown), that is owned by Tarrant County College and as far as I've been told there are no plans to demolish it.

The UER board now reports that the Armour & Swift Plant has found new life, albeit temporary, as a set for the upcoming season of Prison Break (http://www.uer.ca/forum_showthread.asp?fid=1&threadid=47024).
