A builder has broken ground on a 50-unit townhouse development near University Park.
Rivendell Development is building Greenway Place on the west side of the Dallas North Tollway near Lovers Lane.
The Georgian-inspired townhouses start at more than $430,000 and will be ready later this year. The homes will range in size from 1,900 square feet to more than 3,500 square feet.
The entrance to the 3-acre, seven-building project faces Eastern Avenue.
"There were old apartments there that had been demolished," said builder Stephen Meek. "This is part of a redevelopment of that neighborhood.
"Redevelopment is all we want to do."
Rivendell is also building the Tempo La Vista townhomes in the Lower Greenville area on Matilda Street. The 15 modern-style row houses in the project start at less than $400,000, and four of the first five units have been sold.
"We are able to offer more affordable product in the Lower Greenville neighborhood," Mr. Meek said.
The builder also has land on Matilda to build 24 more units – probably a combination of condominiums and townhouses.
Mr. Meek formed his building company after working 25 years at Staubach Co., Post Properties and CLB Partners. His financial partners include Murchison Capital LP and other investors.
Allie Beth Allman & Associates is marketing both Rivendell projects.
