So anyone know what is happening to the Exxon presence in North Dallas. There are now three closed stations along Forrest Ave (ex. Forest/Central, Forrest/Greenville) and a closed station at Walnut Hill/Central (and that one was always crowded). Lease signs are up so it doesn't look like a remodeling effort.
Just coincidence, or are they leaving the market inside the loop?

They have closed a couple in Garland too on very busy corners.

I wondered about this too. From what I've been told, there have been some changes in the way Exxon deals with its franchisees. Therefore, some of the stations have closed due to these changes (whatever they are, I'm not sure).
Specifically, there's one in Garland/Rowlett (66 and Centerville) that appears only to be boarded up without the tanks removed, at last I saw it. I feel like some might come back under different brands or ownership.

Have the opened or redone any Exxon stations in close proximity to some of these that have closed?

To add another to the list: the Exxon/Mobil at Greenville and Blackburn(near Northpark) closed this summer. I believe it was built in 2002.

How big are those stations? The reason I ask is that there are some newer Exxon stations in North Dallas (towards the west side) and it appears that they are larger (like Race Trac, or Wal-Mart gas stations).
A couple of months back the Exxon at Inwood and 35 was under-cutting Race Trac by 5 to 10 cents. That didn't last very long though as they ran out of gas at that station. Prices are back up now.

The Exxon station at Lemmon and 75 had it's pumps replaced with newer models recently, so I doubt they are going anywhere anytime soon.

The Exxon at Walnut Hill and US75 was demolished/leveled this week. Does this have any connection to the proposed mixed-used development on that corner?
