How weird it was to see a huge presidential motorcade only a few blocks from SMU during the saturday evening football game traffic.
I saw many of the black SUV's of the motorcade parked off of Beverly and thought "Man, since when did HPPD get so many new suburbans" It turns out they were a mix of Diplomatic Security Service, Secret Service and some other secret guys. Maybe they should be called Secret Secret Secret Service. Machine guns, sunglasses, suits.
It must have been an impromptu visit of some kind because their were not any Dallas or Highland Park police anywhere around.
Anyone know what he was doing here? I stopped to gawk. The neighbors did not even know what was going on. I thought it might have been the first lady or second lady. Turns out it was Musharraf. He was in a private home. Weird.

Yeah, what's really weird is that he went to a hospital in Paris, Texas, to visit his cardiologist. I was reading the Paris newspaper on-line... believe me, as a person who has family there, that was a big deal up there.
His doctor (and friend) also has a home in Highland Park. So, he came to HP to visit his friend's house.

Maybe he wanted to see first hand where the new presidential library is going to be built.

I think he spent Saturday night in Dallas. This morning there were Dallas Police cars at the top of all the overpasses along Central Expressway and they shutdown Central around 11:30am. Not sure why, but that's usually what they do on the tollroad when a VIP is in town.
Interesting that they drove on Saturday morning from Dallas to Paris instead of flying.

Oh, I didn't know he went to Waco. :)

Excellent security measure. Even with a map, it's almost impossible to figure out how to get to, from, or through Paris, Texas -- it's the Area 51 / Bermuda Triangle of the Texas road network.
I can just imagine the motorcade getting on the Paris Loop and going around... and around... and around... how do you say "Where's the #@$^#$ 'Dallas' exit?" in Arabic?

Not only would they fail to find the "#@$^#$ 'Dallas' exit," they would fail to understand the Arabic too.
The national language of Pakistan is Urdu, with English as the language of business. The most common lesser languages are Pashto and Panjabi.

Do the world famous Pakistani Madrassas(jihad factories) teach the Koran in Arabic or Urdu? How does "allah akhbar" translate into Urdu.

haha -- OR -- some animals make better prey and therefore get moved to the center of the herd for protection.
Decades ago, the Shah of Iran got some heart treatment in San Antonio by a doctor from Tulsa. Ayatollah-cha-cha-cha.

Well... when you go around killing and torturing people for a living, you're probably going to need to watch your back a little more closely than those of us who don't.
Just a shame to see our public "servants" bend over backwards to push their neighbors aside so they can escort the very worst of humanity around. (And one would be hard pressed to name a human being with a track record worse than that of Pervez Musharraf, fwiw.) We live in a country of men and not laws though unfortunately, so that's the way it goes... for now anyway.

D'oh! I try to pass myself off as reasonably well-informed, and then come up with a throwaway line that makes me look about as savvy as Alan Jackson (http://www.humorisdead.com/news/alanjackson.html) ("I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you the difference in Iraq and Iran"). Sorry!
Now, I'm off to look up choice Urdu curses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urdu), appropriate to losing one's way on the Paris Loop.

 Good one!
Look at it this way... Bush called Pakistan an "Arab nation" a couple of months back. Perhaps you could send the WH those links too... ;)

Yeah, but look at it from this perspective: I just got flamed twice on a point of fact that 95% of the American populace would have gotten wrong. Talk about a well-informed bunch of folks on this board! dallasmetropolis.com rocks.

Cheney's motorcade is messing up traffic BIG TIME in Uptown. Bowen and Turtle Creek are currently shutdown. His motorcade is larger than Musharraf's. Pretty good view from the Katy Trail.
