now that i'm here for good, i'm looking for places to eat within walking distance of 1900 Elm. girlfriend and i both dig Campisi's...good food, good atmosphere, good price. any place down here sell good burgers or sandwiches? Urban Market is alright, but the 3 times we've got there (once busy, twice dead), stupid mistakes have been made on their part.

Fuse is a great place for asian food. There is a great pizza place hidden next to joes crab shack. It starts with an s but cant remeber its name. Jakes burgers are the best, though its a bit of a walk from downtown. Press box grill is always a good pick. Ann or Anna, I think thats her name, is a great waiter there. Thomas and Leggit has some good bar food. City Taverns mac and cheese is great as well.

Fuse is great. The daily chef specials are generally much better than the standard menu food, I've found, and their sushi rolls are some of the best combinations in town.

Ya thats it. Its a great place and always has a drink special. Its kinda tucked behind joes crab shack so can bit a bit hard to find.

I'm a big fan of Fuse now. Far superior to Blue Fish in atmosphere and food.

Don't hesitate to check out the places in Deep Ellum too. Lots of good eateries there, and from our building, it's walking distance. http://www.deepellumtx.com/main.html

A few of my favorites:
Angry Dog (deep ellum) -- best hamburgers ever
Campisis (downtown) -- great pizza delivery or dine in. free buffet with two drinks weekdays 5-7
Blue Goose (lower greenville) -- i love their sunday brunch menu
Parigi (oak lawn) -- French-like gourmet -- dog friendly patio and nice owner!

Monica's in Deep Ellum. I highly recommend the white queso and green pasta.
Doesn't he/she have a location in Addison now, as well?

Hambys, Woodways, The Arisocrat, Chaparral Club for hamburgers.
It would be a little too long of a walk, but the Ghost Bar at the W has Kobe beef hamburgers about the size of White Castles during Happy Hour.

Check out the Sunday brunch quiche at West End Pub.... absolutely FANTASTIC. Plus the bartenders there are a trip.

Do you like the food there? I live in the building and the only reason I go is for cheap drinks. Everything I have eaten there has been pretty bad.

Monica's in Deep Ellum is a must. Angry Dog is also a great place.
If you're looking for something fancy, I'd recommend checking out the Zodiac Room in Neiman Marcus. Fantastic food for prices that aren't as expensive as you'd think.

I prefer Yutaka Sushi Bistro on McKinney, across Boll St. from S&D Oyster House, to Nobu -- really, to about every other sushi place in DFW. Great food, great service, beautiful little space, designed by the chef himself. It's a really interesting place that has enormous potential, I feel.

^ If the bankruptcy court accepts their reorganization plan. Hopefully, Jeroboam will be an entity of going concern for the foreseeable future. Beautiful restaurant that continues to deliver fantastic food. Try the Oysters Jeroboam.

Are you talking about the place next to Joe's Hamburgers off 30 and Haskell/Peak? I never tried the seafood place, but when I lived in DE a few years ago, a guy in my building and I would go over there and grab a burger after barhopping. The bugers there are terrific!! It used to be open 24 hours. I don't think it is anymore. The area's a little shady and the service is somewhat ghettocentric, but if you want a really good burger, this is the place.

Yeah, the only thing I've had was the quiche. And that day I had a really nasty hangover. So maybe anything would have tasted good....... but the two other people I was with really enjoyed it as well. Nothing else on the menu looked very good.

I just got back from Monica's in Deep Ellum. I'm never disappointed there. Great queso, yummy food, and some really good specials. Tuesday nights they have half price food (on most menu items), Wednesdays nights is $0.75 margaritas w/food purchase. I had one, it was yummy. And it's within biking distance of 1900 Elm, though if you ask them to valet your bike, they look at you funny. :D

The State Comptroller and the IRS shut her down. Jerobaum and The Green Room are no more.

I hope they make quick work of getting a new tenant in the Jeroboam space. That space is too good to sit empty. Prime location. Justin - do you know of anything you could share with the rest of us?
