First the Trinity River tollroad that no one wants is "fast-tracked"

Then the Trans-Texas corridor is "fast-tracked"

Now all of these Coal powered TXU plants are "fast-tracked" even though we will probably fail to meet the clean air standards required in order to receive federal highway funds.

Has "fast-tracked" just become a synonym for
"shove it down your throats before you can organize any opposition?"

It has gotten to where when I hear something is "fast-tracked" I just roll my eyes.

Yes. It also makes it easier to bulldoze through any opposition that does arise.

That and making it cheaper by not having to deal with as much red tape and opposition.
