VICKERY PLACE CONSERVATION DISTRICT PASSES HANDILY
The city council approved a conservation district for Vickery Place, despite some vocal opposition from residents who were opposed to it. Supporters had about 67 percent residential support for the designation.
The conservation is pretty much in keeping with CDs in neighborhoods around it, so it’s nothing radical.
Councilmember Angela Hunt aptly noted that property values in surrounding neighborhoods that have CDs have increased, and that plenty of new homes have been built despite the restrictions.
Councilman Gary Griffith said he believed backers had a compelling majority of support among residents.
