I am now engaged and in search of a nice wedding/reception location. So far we're considering the Nasher Sculpture Garden and the Dallas Museum of Art. We've ruled out the Arboretum and Fountain Place and parks in general. We want to stay downtown and would really like to have it on a nice roof garden, but I can't think of a single one which could host such an event except possibly Dallas Roof Gardens (Luqa + Petrus Lounge) when it opens. I'm also thinking about Beck Park/Stephan Pyles, but not sure if that is possible either. Does the podium roof terrace at Elm Place host weddings? We're getting married in September so we need to figure this out ASAP. Any suggestions along these lines would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

If you weren't limiting yourself to downtown, and had such a tight time schedule, I would suggest Three Three Three First Avenue (http://www.threethreethreefirstavenue.com/) which is the re-do of the Bill Reed Warehouse between Deep Ellum and Exposition Park. But I'm not sure when it will actually be open. I've also heard that the Women's Museum in Fair Park can be a great venue. I'm not familiar with venues in downtown, but I would suggest checking out the magazine "D Weddings" for more suggestions.
Have you thought about any of the other residential buildings? What about Cityplace? I know it's not in downtown, but I've heard it has a great event facility with a fantastic view of DT.
Oh and CONGRATS! I'm hoping to have a downtown wedding myself some day, when the time comes.

How about Bank of America? A friend who lives in my building is the event coordinator for the club/lounge area there.. Not sure what its called, but I know the facility and views are stunning.. they host weddings all the time... I'll do a little research..
Again, congrats!

Thanks for suggesting that. It didn't occur to me, but I'll look into it. We prefer downtown, but DE could work too. We're just going for an "urban"/contemporary venue with indoor and outdoor accommodations and great views/atmosphere, nothing too traditional/stuffy.
Thanks to everyone for the congrats and suggestions. Please keep them coming if anything else comes to mind. I really appreciate it. It looks like Ninjatune may be our photographer, so we'll definitely post pics when available.

The roof top at Reata Restaurant in downtown Ft. Worth would be perfect if you'd consider heading 35 miles west.

Don't rule out a parking garage with ground floor retail. They seem to be treated with much awe and reverence here.

Two ideas for you:
(1) The dallas museum of art resteraunt may work, depending on the size. They have a wonderful room that opens up on to beautiful lanscaped garden/balcony. We did our wedding rehersal dinner there for 80 guests.
(2) The city place tower (I believe on the 42nd floor). Its not downtown, but has a killer view of downtown. The service is great and the internal finish out is much nicer than the other downtown tower clubs. We had our reception here for a wedding of about 250 people.
Of course, there are alwys the clubs in the Bank of America building and the keyhole building. The resteraunt in Admas Mark also has a killer view.

Have you thought about the penthouse at 1505 Elm? I know I've seen several parties and photo shoots up there.

I have also heard that you can rent the Dallas World Aquarium for weddings, which I would have LOVED to do except that it was cost prohibative.
I'm pretty sure the Belo mansion is also available for weddings.
Hmm ... I bet if you asked the Fuse/ DPL people for renting out the pool/ roof area for a wedding with a reception in Fuse that it would be doable.

I was just about to suggest the Belo Mansion. A friend of mine was considering it for their reception but they eventually decided just to have the reception at the church to save time and money.

Yeah..I had thought about that, but i'm not sure if there is any outdoor access..In the penthouse that is.. I know the garage rooftop area is rather large though..
I checked with my contact @ BoA.. It's called The City Club (www.cityclubdallas.com) .. Her name is Vicki Welch, CWC @ 214.748.9525

By far the best wedding I have been to in Dallas was at http://www.arlingtonhallatleepark.com/ArlingtonHall.htm .

I second Arlington Hall. You'll have great wedding photos. Plus, you'll get the indoor/outdoor factor.

We were almost lined up to do it at the Dallas Roof Gardens, but it turned out to be over our budget. We decided on Thanks-giving Square followed by reception in the Tower Club. Looking forward to it. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions.

So...what was the date, and are we all invited?
Just kidding, congratulations.... and if you need a hotel for the ole wedding night, the Hotel St. Germain on Maple is like nothing else in Dallas. Very expensive though.
