It really depends on your preferences. I can think of a ton of stuff to do in downtown and uptown Dallas, but it suits my tastes and my budget.

So what happened to the Metropolitan restaurant on Main St?? It used to be a nice restaurant, and then I wander in a few weeks ago and they have some weird plywood entry box and the whole place has gone the pub route, not a bad thing in itself, but it didnt seem to be a particularly nice one. Some bad-smelling fish dish from the kitchen had me bolting for the exit.

NORO = North of Round Rock. The Metroplex is NORO. South Beach is SORO.

Hi everyone. This is my first post to this forum. I've been living in Dallas on-and-off since childhood, and I currently reside in East Dallas, where I couldn't be happier.

My hang outs in East Dallas include the patio at Matt's Rancho Martinez when its warm, Times Ten Cellars when it's not, and The Meridian Room and New Amsterdam Coffehaus at any time. I also enjoy the Old Monk (great burgers and fish & chips), Hola (excellent tapas and desserts), and Half Price Books on NW Hwy. But I'm not revealing my favorite hang-out because it's on the verge of becoming too crowded and I like it just the way it is.
