A rising star in the Bush family dynasty will soon be calling Cowtown home.
George P. Bush -- the son of Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and his wife, Columba -- shocked the local political establishment on Monday by announcing that he and his wife would be moving to Fort Worth from Dallas.
Bush, the nephew of President Bush, dropped his bombshell in front of about 150 people attending a fund-raiser at the City Club for the National Republican Congressional Committee that was hosted by U.S. Rep. Kay Granger, R-Fort Worth.
Bush is an attorney at the Dallas law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld. His wife, Amanda Williams Bush, is an attorney at Jackson Walker in Fort Worth.
It's not clear whether Bush plans to leave Akin, Gump once he moves west. There is speculation that Bush, a former clerk for U.S. District Judge Sidney Fitzwater, may leave the practice of law to work for a financial firm. He specializes in corporate and securities and investment funds, according to the Akin, Gump Web site.
Bush has been touted as a likely political contender and has made several high-profile appearances for the GOP at Latino rallies.
