Trump sets sights on Dallas
Glenn Hunter
Editor
Real estate tycoon Donald J. Trump says he's eying land in North Texas for a project called Trump Tower Dallas.
"We're literally looking at something right now, and if we do it we'll make it very, very successful," Trump told the Dallas Business Journal on Thursday.
While he declined to provide specifics, the wealthy entrepreneur said he'll visit the tower's proposed site next month when he speaks at the Learning Annex Real Estate Wealth Expo at the Dallas Convention Center.
"The speech is giving me the incentive to go out and look at the land," Trump said. "The land that we'll purchase will be terrific, if we decide to do this."
Asked to describe the site's location, Trump said: "I'd rather not. Because otherwise, it won't be available for purchase for very long."
Trump, president and chairman of the New York-based Trump Organization, developed the Trump Tower skyscraper and the Trump International Hotel & Tower, a luxury hotel and residential building, in New York.
Most recently he announced plans for Trump Tower Philadelphia, a 45-story, $190 million luxury condominium project along the Delaware River waterfront. It would be similar to other Trump buildings planned for Las Vegas, Chicago and Tampa, Fla.
Experts say Dallas has been a hot market for high-end condos. The most successful such projects have been the W Dallas Victory Hotel and Residences and the Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, said real estate consultant Ted Wilson, a principal at Dallas-based Residential Strategies Inc.
That's mainly because both the W and the Ritz have "national and even international brand appeal" and are associated with full-service hotels, Wilson said.

How freakin' awesome! I can't wait to hear about where he is thinking of and what he's planning! Hopefully if he follows the pattern he's already done, it'll be a great, landmark tower! Hopefully as well it'll be taller than the BOA tower, but that's just my wish!

I don't think we will get anything higher than 45 stories.
And for the location,I doubt that Trump tower will be in Victory, may be Uptown,Downtown or Turtle creek.

Let's look at Trump tower under construction
Chicago 92 stories
Toronto 70 stories
Las Vegas 64 Stories
Finger cross that we could get anything about 60-70 stories.
Is Trump Tower New Orleans canceled yet?

Ultimately it will be in that part of DTD and can help fill the skyline in between that and Reunion tower.

Ultimately it will be in that part of DTD and can help fill the skyline in between that and Reunion tower.I would much rather it be north and to the east of it.. between it and Fountain Place. Gaping hole there. Also a nice plot of land directly to the east of BoA Tower. If you place it south or southwest, you'll just make the skyline even more spread out. Reunion Tower can be its own little addition.. it doesnt need connecting. But maybe we're getting ahead of ourselves.

thought it will be a bit hard, not knowing anything about where he is looking. Though if he builds across the street from me, I will have not a second thoughts of renting out my place and living at my place i was going to rent out in victory.

I love the tower in Chicago, but I also do really like the Trump World Tower I believe it's called, the black one by the UN in New York. Now my dream would be if he could build a tower like the Burj Dubai tower in Dubai. Now that would be a landmark tower that would change Dallas, and be one of a kind for the US. Here's a website for it...www.burjdubai.com

haha, you know he's only saying all this to get into the press and ruffle Mark Cuban's feathers.....they have been going at it for a while with insults and such, he might just be trying to hit cuban at home..... i hope he is serious though, but I can also see this as another stab at Cuban even though Cuban had a huge loss with The Benefactor.......

I hate to sound "Insidetheloop-ish" on this one, but, I wouldn't get too excited about this one right now. If Trump hasn't even seen the site yet, I would think that his purchase, much less, development would be a long, long ways away. Yes, our real estate market is comparatively good with the rest of the country, and yes, we're a long way from the bubble. BUT, it appears that the Donald is just coming to that realization.
I want to see him build something here just as much as the next man. However, I think that his visit in February is more about motivational speaking than anything else. This article just fuels those ticket sales.

i belive (don't quote me on this) that the one or two PHoenix projects he's going to do will be greater than 50 stories. and dallas' land is MUCH cheaper!! here come the investors. buy your properties now!! ha!

HOLY SH!T!!!! The fact that Trump is even considering Dallas shows just how far Dallas has progresssed in becoming urbanized. I do think this project will happen but I just hope he doesn't wear a cowboy hat at groundbreaking.

Trump Tower New Orleans if it was built would be 60 stories. And the land there certainly isn't more expensive than Dallas'.

I agree..this is great..if this tower does come to fruition, I do believe it will be the start of many other high end developers coming to Dallas just on Trump's name alone.

My boyfriend was talking about a conference Trump was going to speak at in Dallas. My response was, "I bet when Trump sees what's going on in Downtown Dallas, he will want to build a tower."
I think this is great and could be a great signal for the rest of the real estate investors across the nation.

Perhaps he will build a huge one hundred story building shaped like a large capital D? Not only would this unique shape not be the typical square one, but it would have the benefit of lots of corner windows. People driving to Dallas would be able to see the building from hundreds of miles away and say to each other cheerfully, "Hey! There is Big D!" Also confused terrorists would have a difficult time aiming their aircraft at it and this would cause most of them to fly right through the middle of it.

I was thinking the same thing a few days ago when I heard on the radio he was coming here to the convention center. I was going to post it but I decided not to.
I do know a rumor was going around about five years ago that Trump was eyeing at a prime vacant lot at the corner of Turtle Creek & Cedar Springs.
Anyway this is fantastic news, I hope it will happen for Dallas.

Take a look at this thread (http://forum.dallasmetropolis.com/showthread.php?t=2885) from a few years back..could it be possible that the Trump org actually listened to some of your emails? I'm praying that he's eyeing the arts dist. or anywhere downtown. The worst news would be something like a Galleria tower.
I just hope he puts Bill Rancik in charge.

Trump's daughter, Ivanka, used to come down to Dallas quite often while she was in MBA school. She had a friend that lived here at 1999 McKinney. (Great girl...HOT...smart...not pretentious..loved to walk up and down McKinney Ave..Ivanka, not her friend). Anyway, I digress. Me being the idiot, one day I asked her what her plans where after she left Wharton. "Going to work for my Dad," was her reply. Where I'm going with this is that she seemed to really like Dallas and may have had some influence with her Dad. My guess is that he's serious.

I wouldn't get out the groundbreaking shovels. Trump does that routine where ever he travels around the county. He made the same kind of statements here on visits in the 90s and 80s. It gets him a lot of attention and opens doors for him. Also, he's promoting this seminar he's giving here next month - one of those "how to get rich in real estate" classes. What better way to get folks fired up than to talk about some "mystery" project here. I don't buy it.

I'm very skeptical, but the fact that we have the opportunity to speculate about it is exciting to me.
