Email from a buddy...
FYI
Dallas and the state of Texas will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers and Dallas Police officers overtime. There will be 50 police officers and state troopers in the Metroplex on duty at all times patrolling the 10 main intersections and highways.
They are the following:
I-35E north and south
I-20 east and west
75 north and south
635 entire loop
114 east and west
183 east and west
175 north and south
North Dallas Tollway north and south
George Bush Turnpike east and west
360 north and south
Now 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every officer is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and they are bringing all their part timers on full time. If you work in Dallas or the surrounding areas you must take one of these interstates, routes, or parkways. It's up to you how fast you are doing when they do. WBAP-820 AM confirmed all of this yesterday morning.
So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on you.
You've been warned.

FROM WBAP's website:
Is There A Speeding Ticket Frenzy Planned for D/FW?
You may have received the e-mail, perhaps twice...or a dozen times warning you of a speeding ticket frenzy coming to Dallas and Texas "over the next 30 days". What's the real story?
Here's the text of the e-mail making its rounds recently:

First and foremost this was never reported and confirmed by WBAP News/Talk 820. In fact, until the phone calls and e-mails started coming in it hadn't even been on the air at WBAP. However, WBAP's NewsCenter 820 has spoken with the Dallas Police Department and the only thing we can confirm is that the DPD knows nothing about any such "speeding ticket frenzy" this weekend or anytime in the future.
It is a HOAX - plain and simple. This same hoax started in New Jersey back in 2005, then migrated to Tennessee in July 2005. Next it made it's way to Orange County, California by the end of 2005 - and now it's Texas' time.
You can check Snopes.com to find out more specific details of this hoax. Note how the only thing changed were the city and state, plus the specific highways where the radar traps were to be set up.
Two friendly pieces of advice - don't believe everything you read in those pass-it-on e-mails (even if it is supposedly confirmed by a reputable news source)...and second, if you don't speed in the first place, you don't have to worry about speeding ticket frenzies!
Be safe...we want you back to WBAP.com and listening to WBAP News/Talk 820!

This is the part that gave it away as a hoax for me:
They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers ...
Didn't the City of Dallas sue Ford over the Crown Victoria because it was unsafe? It makes no sense that they'd buy 30 new ones after claiming they were safe, especially since I've been seeing new Chevy and Dodge police cruisers.

This came across an email list I'm on, last Friday. The worst part about it is that this hoax didn't even start here, but in... I hate to even type it... New Jersey.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/traffic/newjersey.asp
New Jersey will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers overtime. There will be 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main intersections and highways.
They are the following:
I-295 north and south
1-95 (Jersey Turnpike) north and south
1-80 east and west
I-287 north and south
I-78 east and west
I-195 east and west
1-280 east and west
Rt. 130 north and south
Garden State Parkway north and south
Now 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and they are bringing all their part timers on full time. If you work in New Jersey, New York, or CT, you must take one of there interstates, routes, or parkways. It's up to you how fast you are doing when they do. I was told 101.5 FM confirmed all of this.
So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on you.
You've been warned.
New Jersey! Geez! And they didn't even make the obvious adjustments... if you're going to play a hoax in Texas, then it's got to be BIG. If NJ can generate "9 million dollars" in tickets, then we should generate 9 billion dollars.
Note: the Dallas version of the hoax has been added to Snopes.com, along with TN and SoCal. Maybe I should do one up for Tulsa. NOT! I hate this sort of thing with a purple passion.

In fact ford will not sell any cars to dallas. Cops are already complaining about the new cars. They are smaller and do not handle as well. For the money the crown victoria is by far one of the best police car.
