View Full Version : Stupid hypothetical

I'm sorry, I normally wouldn't do this, but I've been up for 20 hours, I am bored out of my mind, and I have 3 hours to go before I can go home. Now on to my amuseing, but stupid hypothetical that came to my sleep deprived mind.

A magic fairy or wizard or Bill Gates tells you that they can get the vacancy rate of DTD down to 5 percent for all things residential and commercial, but in order to do that, you have to pick a landmark DTD tower to be razed and surface parking put in its place. Which tower do you chose and why? Or do you even take the deal?

Mine is Renaisance Tower. The reason? It is the second tallest, but basically a vertical Kleenex box. It is pretty unimaginative in design. The tower up top helps and I like the night lighting, but other than that, nothing stands out.

Just curious and tired.

Edit:I think I put this in the wrong section. Sorry, it's 3 in the morning.

Well, if a magic fairy came around, I'd ask for a different deal. How about keeping the vacancy rate where it is, but throw some magic dust on the Trinity River project and make the Freeway-part go away!

I couldn't ask for a surface parking lot to be created anywhere. But I think there are uglier buildings than Renaisance. My least favs are Bryan Tower and 1600 Pacific, both are bland boxes without the little towers on top...

I would ask the fairy to make surface parking extinct.

Fairies aren't welcome in Texas.

Okay, I've looked at the stipulations twice and I would say "no deal" to our friend, "The fairy", mainly because you don't reduce Dallas' residential/commercial vacancy rate from 15+% to just 5% by razing one office tower, even if it's the BOA.

Tell your fairy to stop hatin' and go back to Austin!! :)

Fairies aren't welcome in Texas.

That was a smartass thing to say.

I like it.
