With the proliferation of City Homes developments around town, I was wondering, how is the build quality? Finish out materials? How about sound proofing between units?

Would appreciate hearing from some folks who have bought one.

I do not own one but one of my friends does. He was very dissapointed with the finish out AND soundproofing. I own a townhome from UrbanInnovations--and the soundproofing is good... along w/ the finish out.

I looked at City Homes pre-Centex and they were very good. After Centex bought them they lowered their finish out standards so they could reach a lower price point and sell more units.

At this point I would say they are a little overpriced (cost per sq ft) for their finish out. Perry Homes has a similar finish out and their cost per sq ft is much lower.

psukhu said it correctly. I bought one of the last CityHome's built before the Centex buyout. It was awesome - finish out was very high quality, nothing but top-notch, no cutting corners. I never heard my neighbors, and they never heard our grand piano or stereo.

We had a contract on a newer one, still very nice, but we cancelled because they seemed to "nickle & dime" some places. No more solid core doors, no more museum finish walls, granite was now an upgrade in the bathrooms, the light fixtures were cheap, the mable cabinets were an upgrade, lots of little things that were no longer standard. They are still nice units, but if you can find a pre-Centex unit, they are better.

Unfortunately, we sold our CityHome earlier this year. I miss that place.... :(
