This is and was always a 'just for fun' discussion because everyone on this board should be well aware that Fort Worth needs not a million people in the City to get respect. Maybe there are plenty of reasons why to not want something of this nature for the City!

As the old poll was stated long ago:

A second city over 1 million in population within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Area? Is that far-fetched? Perhaps, but, it can't be discounted. It's a matter of how soon, future demographic trends, annexations, and the drill goes on. Place your opinion, no matter how subjective, on Fort Worth's possible future. Add it up...explain or don't explain!

Fort Worth at One Million. Just have fun! It's at around 556,000 right now and growing quite healthily.

I went to an AIA lunch this week where the City's Planning Director, Fernando Costa spoke on population trends. He based the numbers on the NCTCOG's estimates, which tend to be conservative and usually underestimate the population numbers. By their figures, if Fort Worth does not annex any land, in 2030, the population within the current city limits will be around 826,000. If in the next 27 years, the city annexes out to the current ETJ lines, the population will be 1.1 million. If you consider the city's past annexation history, the limits will be very close to the current ETJ lines by 2030.
