I read through the "thoughts on houston" thread and after reading some of the posts, Houston does have a chinatown, pretty big one in fact. The old chinatown or the small one is located in downtown Houston, but no one goes there any more since most of the places are closed. The new Chinatown, located in southwest Houston along Bellaire, is thriving and growing like crazy. In fact, someone started a website, www.chinatownconnection.com that has everything people need to know about Houston's Chinatown. Not many of those are around and Im not sure if Dallas has site like this. But it is just evidence that H-town's Asian population is growing fast.

I lived right in the middle of the "new" Chinatown in Houston a few years ago. All of the street signs for the major arterials were in Chinese.

Watching the older apartment buildings convert to commercial (professional) offices is freaky. Kind of like the conversion explosion that took place in the 50s in NYC, only using garden style structures instead of the traditional multi-tenants.
Meanwhile, ctown is right in that that section is seeing ridiculous growth, both in residential and commercial. I hope it leads to Bellaire being rebuilt in either direction for at least a mile. The cracks in the concrete have gotten especially bad over the last couple of years.

your right. They would have to considering all the new shopping plazas their building now. I still remember Chinatown back in the 80's, which was Diho Shopping Center. Now just look at it. Talk about an economic boom.
