In May, 2005, ground was broken for the new World of Coca-Cola®. This next-generation corporate attraction will be built on 20 acres of prime downtown real estate adjacent to Centennial Olympic Park.

The site will also include the Georgia Aquarium, set to open at the end of this year. A gardenlike plaza with a lake will connect the two world-class attractions, located just a few blocks away from The Coca-Cola Company’s worldwide headquarters.

The new facility will continue to focus on the timeless values of Coca-Cola, while celebrating consumer connections with the brand in exciting new ways. Updated technology and story-telling techniques will make the guest experience even more interactive and engaging. Other new features will spotlight operations around the world and illustrate how the Coca-Cola system benefits the communities it serves.

To transform the World of Coca-Cola into a bigger attraction, planners have enlarged the museum and given it a more open and fluid design to allow for regular exhibit updates. Several World of Coca-Cola favorites will be adopted by the new attraction, including "Taste of the World," where visitors sample Coke products from around the globe. Be sure to visit us again for updates on this exciting new facility.

Until the new attraction opens, we look forward to welcoming you to the "original" World of Coca-Cola! We will remain open until the new attraction is completed.

Corporate Museums?
The history of the 1900s is the history of the big corporations, from Standard Oil at the start of the century to Coca Cola to McDonald's to Wal-Mart to Microsoft. For better or for worse, their history is our history. I have huge respect for companies that have the foresight to maintain records and artifacts of their corporate history -- often, the desire is to have no past, especially when the past involves bad acts or acquisitions.

Sure, this particular spectacle is another bit of marketing by Coca Cola, the marketing masters. But remember Texaco? Remember Gulf? Remember Getty Oil? The history of the 1900s was written by these companies and countless others. I hope that our children will be able to learn about their contributions -- both positive and negative -- to the world they inherit.

Doesnt Coca Cola have lots to do with the present day popularity of Santa Claus?

Dedicated to the legacy of John S. Pemberton, who invented Coca-Cola in 1886, Pemberton Place is now home to the New World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium. The attraction will soon be joined by a human rights center. The land for the center and the Aquarium, valued at about $36 million, was donated by the Coca-Cola Company as part of its long history of commitment to downtown Atlanta. Pemberton Place also includes 5 beautiful acres of green space open to city residents and visitors. The area features tranquil water gardens that symbolically reference water's importance to the planet and to the Coca-Cola Company
