I may be one of the biggest sports (FOOTBALL) fans ever......the College National Championshop Game is unbelieveable (Miami vs. Ohio State). Is anyone watching......or did anyone watch. This is so much better than I thought it would be.

by the way....does anyone have an opinion about the Bill Parcells being the new Dallas Cowboys coach? I'll give you my opinion.....he's a bad**s.....and it is a great move....anyways...had to get that off my chest

I don't like football. Once again, I don't belong in Texas, you'd think!

When are we going to have a playoff system?

Forget a playoff system. To much money at stake here. Until the players ( not football players) see a way for lots of teams to get money or unti you have 3 or 4 teams all with perfect records at season end all the time, the BCS system is just going to be refined to death.

Actually there have been offers that dwarf the amounts the bowls give by different networks and potential corporate sponsors. The packages offered have been similar to the NCAA basketball tourney, which dwarf bowl moneys. I believe NEXTEL or one of the phone giants, just offered USC and LSU a considerable amount of money to play a championship game. The NCAA and ADs objected. The same conference revenue sharing could be used and would provide more money per school. There was a report last year on what bowls were actually profitable for the schools in them. Only the 4 BCS bowls that were profitable. The bowls themselves are what stand to lose revenue, not the NCAA. The NCAA and the networks would win huge from a playoff, because it would be more watched, have more sponsor and ad possibilities, and the final game would be a rating coup. Bowl official ties to school ADs is what is stopping this. As a new school of ADs enter the arena, we will see a playoff of some form. Too much money to be made not to. Similar in a way to CART and IRL. The individual relationships are destroying merger. The old CART guard has resigned now, so the IRL will buy the assets of CART(OWRS) without much protest. NCAA, please watch this closely and do what is best in the name of business.
