Does it anger you to see how Dallas is treated on SSC? I mean Dallas is great city with its' fair share of problems, but I really can't comprehend why it's hated on so much along with our great state. Take a look at the crap others think about our fine city.

Yeah it angers me gil...thats y i refrain from visiting that site..it raises my bloodpressure u know...It seems that everyone thinks their opinion is "right" and that all others should adopt it and live by it, they dont recognize the fact that everyone is different. Also, I see too much "close-mindedness" all these people from around the world talk crap about our cities and have never experienced them...oh well, its never going to change. We just need to stay classy and respect our cities, state, and country. I mean..we dont wanna become the "rednecks" we are said to be right?

Nah, it doesn't anger me.

I don't know those people, and don't care to know them. I've visited the site once, and didn't see anything that compelled me to visit again.

we'd like to all not care but ignorance like that keeps people from vacationing or moving to the metroplex. Only thing one can do is post facts against the ignorance.

Not really. I find that I don't care about what they think about the city I happened to be born in. There really are much more important things going on. Which has a lot to do with why I'm not on here nearly as much.

Dallas is the largest city in the world with no reason to exist. Despite our lack or perceived lack of a significant natural resource or natural setting like an ocean, lake or mountain range this city thrives like almost no other. One of the driving forces behind this regional growth has been the desire of people from all over the world to live here. Companies want to locate here and people want to be here. Dallas has grown from one cabin along a relatively unknown river into a region of over 6 million in the blink of an eye. Complain and bitch as they may this city has something that they can never take away from us and that is our location. Dallas sits on absolute prime real estate when you consider our proximity to everything else on this quadrant of the planet. They complain about us endlessly but we have two things most other cities don't have. One being land and the other being a better location. In this era of cost containment, efficient logistical supply chain management and corporate consolidation we have much to offer. Our ample supply of land, nationally superior workforce and Texas can-do attitude helps us to maintain our superior competetive advantage.

When I say this is the largest city in the world with no reason to exist that comment comes from a presentation delived by one of the developers of DFW in the 70's. The reason that airport was developed in the first place was because of our lack of a port facility. DFW became our inland port.

The easiest answer to this is that we are a success and a much bigger success that we were supposed to be. Those that dislike us so much probably know that and can't stand the fact that this region has emerged into what it is and is obvioulsy poised to do so much more. They all know that.
