purty rendering.
This is off subject but I have to post it because it came to my mind.
I was just thinking the other day how beautiful a set of hand drawn architectural drawings are. The last time I saw a set of hand drawn architectural was for the Muse Residence the architect was from Europe.

Very nice! I like the brick and stone.
There appears to be two one-car garages. Am I looking at this right?
Is this one of the houses you will build?

Yes 2 garages, and yes this is a house I am design/building.

I think he means the garage on the right or the other one where the garage seems to enter the house.

Isn't there 2 garages...one to the right one in the back.
Cole, it looks awesome. What part of town are you planning on building it?

Very nice. Looks like it would go up east of Preston in Preston Hollow or the western area of Devonshire, just south of Bluffview. Just my guess from walking around town. Maybe even west or east of Preston, just south of 635 and north of Royal. Am I guessing right?

A porte cochere is a drive-through deal.
rantanamo
27 January 2005, 03:48 PM
car port is basically a garage without walls.
porte cochere is like a drive through car port. Like you see on many large expensive homes.

I fail to see how a giant, two-story arch in the front entrance of any home is attractive.

Well, they are mostly on older homes. The type you'd find in Junius Heights, Oak Cliff or Munger Place.

nm, maybe I misconstrued what you were talking about. Thought you were talking about the porto cochere on that Willow Bend mansion. I was just saying they are most common in older homes.

My next house has two similar features:
-Single car straight ahead and double car to the right. I'm going to give the double garage two doors so it has a more uniform look. Anybody know where I can buy garage doors made out of cedar wood?
-Stone on piece of the house. Stone is very expensive and I can only afford to do one piece of the front elevation. :)

Yes, there's a bay window in the garage.
Creates a spot for the lawn mower. :D

I can get you some cedar garage doors, you just got to give me a heads up ahead on them.

Interesting
I was just thinking of the cost to frame the thing and 3 windows for a garage was a little out there. But I guess the lawn mower is a good way to sell it. If you just added an extra 3 ft to a garage it would give you room to put the lawnmower, some cabinets, and a workbench.

Honestly, the picture is really good. I don't know what your experience is with this software or how easy it is to use. Very good, IMO.

I usually dont do that high-quality renderings for my clients ( takes a lot of time ) but once my prospective clients saw that rendering they all want them now. So I am very busy, but I will post something by Sunday.
I am also working on a office park in Lancaster. I will post some renderings of that next week.
Oh btw- Archicad is not that difficult to learn if you know some construction and design, but the rendering you are seeing is done with Cinema4D as a plugin. If anyone wants to learn to design using ArchiCad or Autocad I would love to help people out as long as my schedule allows it.

I think there are few people in here who are very proficient with CAD.
I am not one of them, but I do know that there are a few architects on this board.
