this is from skyscrapercity:
its a project being financed and developed by a conglomerate of miami businessman, including billionaire wayne huizenga (owner of the miami dolphins, blockbuster video), mickey arison (owner of the maimi heat, and carnival cruise lines), jeffery loria (owner of the florida marlins), and other Florida related groups. The project includes a 2.5 million sq. office component, 700 hotel rooms and 1000 condo units. Te building will be a total of 175 stories and will include 2 museums, park space, and a 50,000 seat stadium stadium (located adjacent to the base of the tower) for the florida marlins. The developers say they want the world's tallest building to come back to the United States. This guy who posted this said he found this on a Florida forum.

I personally think it's ugly. But that's just my opinion.

Unfortunately, it's not a real project - just another fabrication by overzealous online forumers. It's not the first time someone out in Miami or Florida has done this!

Metro Miami is having the biggest high rise boom in the US right now. I'd be surprised if there aren't a few more of these.

Yea, I counted 14 cranes in just the downtown area last month.

How many cranes are in uptown right now? And how many will there be in a few months? Seems like I read somewhere that there would be 9 this year in just the Victory area.

Miami is mega-boomtown. Eternal-running threads show it all on SSP.

Miami's location, influence, climate, etc, could make it the next US world city. The threads on SSP and SSC are really impressive. I'll definitely have to drive down there one of these days.

Isn't Florida a world state?

probably so as a tourist destination, but I wouldn't call Miami of today a world city on the level of NY or LA quite yet.

Definetly the tall one isnt something that looks like it would be in florida it just doesnt look right and it also looks like something from asia's cities. Miami much like most of the urban areas of florida is turning to hi-rises to raise population and real-estate(i mean condos) but miami is on its way to the top. Its a real nice city and does have many hi-rises mostly condos. Miami and Tampa Bay are the fastest growing metro areas in the state.
Also if they put in a really tall building they should put it in or near downtown because ive seen pictures of some cities in asia which have one real tall building and have nothing around it like tapei 101
