I found an old photo at an antique shop, and I'm trying to identify the location. From all of the great information on this blog, I figured out that this is probably Dallas (there were four of these streetcars running in Dallas in the 40's). I read about the #123, but it looks like this is the #127. Would anyone know the route the #127 took or be able to identify where in Dallas this photo was taken? I grew up in Dallas, but nothing seems familiar to me -- I don't remember Lang's or a credit jeweler that ended in ...ZIK'S. There's another sign, but the letters are blurry, and I can't identify it.

I'd appreciate any help anyone out there can offer.

Here's a link to the photo and the discussion we're having trying to identify the location:

Thanks for the help!

If you really want to find out where this location is or if the location is for sure in the Downtown Dallas area. I highly recommend trying to get a hold of a 1950's 40's Dallas phone book via a google search. I know there are several websites that offer a 1940's to 1950's Dallas phone books on DVD or cd. That is if your willing to put the $$$ out for it. The Dallas Library might have old phone books how old I don't know or
Something like this might point you in the right direction. Best of Luck.

Outside of a phone book it may be next to impossible to find the location.

Thanks for the info. I do have a couple of old Dallas directories (50's and 60's), and Lang's isn't listed in either. I was hoping to jolt someone's memory with this post.

You may have some luck jogging someone's memory in this thread at City Data:

Lang's was a was a well known local florist in Dallas. They had numerous locations. The largest was on Second Avenue that was run as a nursery. They also had another large location at Haskell and Mckinney. Lang's Nursery was the oldest and longest operating nursery in Dallas from the turn on the century to the 1960s. Mr Lang popularized the crepe mrytle here in Dallas. Chances are if you live in the M-streets or Lakewood and have very old hedges and shrubs, they were probably from Langs.

The Lang's location in the photo was a smaller flower shop in Downtown. Not sure of the exact address.
