^First time ever between two of the top 3 in all-time wins. Fortunately UT matches up well with them. Wonder if Greg Davis will screw it up.
One thing sickening about college football is Disney's control. Wish the other networks would buy more into it. Especially NBC (who seemingly has decided they don't like sports) and CBS, who does great with their presentations. Plus they broadcast in 1080i

My condolences go to their sports direction (was in and lost son in plane crash), but I wonder what has been going on. They could only manage half of the NASCAR season and Notre Dame football. They've lost the NFL and NBA. Maybe they just don't want to spend much on sports.

if they are real business people, its a bad move. Fox and CBS make a killing off of the advertising. That's why the bid for the next contract was even higher. Maybe NBC is just trying to go out of business. They are being killed in the ratings for all programming. I guess all they want is the Olympics.

Tennessee received a late Christmas with that gift-wrapped game.
Edit: Tennessee would've won anyway - it's just frustrating to see the Aggies take themselves out of the game so early with costly turnovers. We're much better than we played today. It was still a successful season - it just had a crappy ending :(

01 January 2005, 09:44 PM
Well, my Tigers proved once again that, in fact, a football game is actually a full 60 minutes as opposed to the standard 59:30 that they sometimes play in Baton Rouge. Maybe one day they'll figure that one out. Oh well!!!

Vince seems to complete the hardest passes that require lots of touch or threading it into a zone. Can't seem to make the easy throws though. I wouldn't doubt he gets that done. He just lead a team to 11-1 and is starting to look like he did in High School, where his Rose Bowl performance was a weekly thing.

I've said it since UT lost to OU this year: No way UT should have lost to that team. I saw OSU, A&M and USC put up big points on them. Holding OU to 12 should have been plenty for UT to beat them. The whole mental edge they have on UT is just that, mental.
I don't know how to feel about the Orange Bowl. USC should have to play Auburn as they should have had to play LSU last year. I was hoping for an OU win for conference pride and UT only losing to the national champ. On the other hand, good, they can brag about another championship, and they have a 2 game bowl losing streak. UT needs to get it done next October. No excuses with all that OU is losing.

I said it last year and I'll get to say it again this year: the Big 12 is the most overrated conference in the country! OU and Bob Stoops are a bunch of whinny crybabies and should not have played for the national championship for the past two years. Last year should have been LSU-USC. NO TEAM SHOULD PLAY FOR THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AFTER GETTING THEIR ASSES HANDED TO THEM IN THEIR CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!!!!
Congrats to USC and coach Pete Carroll on their national championship. BTW, LSU would have kicked their ass last year!!!

Once again, a Big 12 team shows the conference is no match for a SEC team. Vols win!!!!!
I could have said the same thing when:
Nebraska killed Florida in the mid 90's in the national championship game,
when Nebraska killed Tennessee twice in 98 and 2000,
when Texas killed Mississippi State in 1999,
when Kansas State killed Tennessee in 2001,
when OU beat Arkansas in 2002,
when OU beat Alabama in 2002 and 2003,
when Texas Tech beat Mississippi in 2002 and 2003,
and when Texas whipped your LSU tigers in 2003.
There have been several other close matchups that happened to go the SEC's way, like Mississippi over OSU last year, Mississippi State over A&M in 2000, and LSU over OU last year.
The point is, every year is different and every match-up is different.
But if you want to make a head-to-head comparison over the last 6-8 years, the Big 12 would be way ahead.
