That's right, crescentboi. The part of the site closest to cedar springs will be done later. I'm moving soon to Gables Mirabella next door. I hope the construction noise isn't too bad. But when I move I can start sending photos of the construction progess if people want.
That would be great. Thank you.

Well, they're not saving the trees. They've all been cut down and the land is starting to be cleared
The trees with the orange fences around them are still standing. I as I had stated before, I believe you will see this area as the debris feel for construction supplies. But we dont know the intention or plans for future development where these trees currently are. However the other half of the site is where the building will be located and these are the trees that have been torn down.

Okay, so we know this is a large Gables residential development. Has anyone found any additional information about this?

They say 300 units in 7 floors for phase one.

Wow! That's pretty big! I hope it looks more interesting than some of the other units in that area.

I'm just rereading the details from the original DMN article. I'm told there have been no changes.

you got your facts wrong clipper...
the gables residential project is 4 floors
my bad...
you are right it is 7 floors.
I must have been thinking about another project.
sorry about that...

Could be. Just going by what was in the DMN. And they've been wrong before.

That French job down the road by Prado is supposed to be 4 stories, I think. Hopefully the first phase of this Gables deal will be successful enough to warrant a much taller phase two. Considering the uptown skyline, I think this is a good strategic spot for a 20 story building.

'That French job' (ZOM Rosewood) will indeed be 4 floors.

I hope they redo this intersection.
Cedar Springs is not a great street to walk on from the Katy Trail to Woodall Rogers. I hope this project (and the Ritz and Prado) encourage the city to put in some real inner city sidewalks and crosswalks.
update:
Couldn't agree more Paul.

I'm sure it'll be redone.. I think that the intersection next to the Prado will get redone.. (Pearl and Cedar Springs?)

Where did you see that this will be seven floors?
I think the project name might be Gables Vineyard Place, but I could be wrong here.

Not really. I was looking at apartments in Uptown with my girlfriend who is moving there from the Village. The sales rep at the Gables Ravello said, "it is going to be a massive complex of between 7-9 stories". That's all he knew.

Sounds like this will be similar to the Ravello, rather than typical suburban garden style apartments.
I guess we should expect to see a parking garage rise first, then the apartments around it.

Ya, and I'm doubtful that phase two would be much of a high rise; it doesnt appear from the Gables website that they are familiar with buildings over 10 stories.

Oh...he also mentioned that work on Republic Center was proceeding slowly because it is an historic building. But it's still a go.

from steve browns real estate report....
Across the Woodall Rodgers canyon in Uptown, apartment designers and developers are experimenting with new hues. Take Gables Residential's Uptown Place apartments under construction just off Cedar Springs Road. Designed by Florida's Fugleberg Koch Architects, the seven- story buildings will sport beachy stucco colors, including green, pink and orange. The project on Carlisle Street near Turtle Creek will have 311 units with average rents of $1,573. It's phase one of a project that will eventually cover about five acres. Colors are an inexpensive way to attract renters' attention in a crowded market and escape the monotony of brown, buff and beige. Besides, what's the worst thing that can happen if you chose the wrong color? Isn't that why they make paint?

Thank you for some new colors. Now bring back the lighter blue supports at the high five.

I'm not sure that "beachy colors" like red, orange and green are such a good idea. I've got to find a picture of this to be sure.

600+ units with both phases?
From the initial article, there will be 300 units in each phase for a total of 600.... still about 800-900 new uptown residents. Just to clairfy, this lot backs up to Katy Trail, is that right?
Gables will develop the property in two steps. The first phase will include 300 apartments in a seven-story building at Carlisle and Vine Street. ..."On the second phase [which fronts on Cedar Springs], we are not sure how big it will end up, but it will be mixed-use," Mr. Petricca said. "We will not try to re-create West Village, but we'll do 20,000 to 30,000 square feet of retail with the apartments."
The rendering seems to leave out the retail...? While color can keep people away, I think the represented colors will attract people to the complex as intended.

No, it is one tiny block north of Katy Trail (between Carlisle St. and the Gables Mirabella)

I concur with Rantanamo regarding the orientation of the rendering.
