I'm a senior at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. I lived the first 18 years of my life in Dallas though, and will live there permanently some time again in the near future. For now though, I hope to be working in the financial world, in Chicago or NYC, for at least a couple years. Here's me:

I'm brand new to the forum. Just signed on. Glad to be aboard, I have to keep up on what's going on in other parts of Texas you know?

Name:--Kevin Lehnhardt
Age:--21
City:--Austin, Texas
Occupation:--Don't have one at the moment.
Political orientation:--Liberal Republican
Other:--I love Texas!

I build models of real skyscrapers out of Legos. I've built 200 so far, including the Texas State Capitol, and others like the Empire State Building. And a few locals from Dallas and Fort Worth, like the Renaissance Tower and Burnett Plaza among others. If you'd like to see these, I have a few pictures of them on my Photopoint Album. Look in the "My Legos" section. Here's the link...albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=697922 (http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=697922)

Just to add something I forgot to, I was born in San Antonio. I've lived in Austin all my life though. (My parents had a good family friend who was a doctor, lol that sounds so funny when I tell it like that.)

I've updated my photo from the post above which I made in March of last year (I can't believe it's been almost 1 year since that).

I now live in NYC and work on Wall Street for a major financial firm. I have been following this site for almost 3 years... wow... time flies.

Name: Ian Bryant

Age: 23 (will be 24 in 9 days)

City: I lived in dallas (uptown) last year while I was working as a consultant, but now I'm living in Richardson. Of course as soon as I'm working again I'll be moving back down to dallas, hopefully downtown.

Occupation: I'm currently a graduate student at the University of Texas at Arlington. I'm studying at the School of Urban and Public affairs (SUPA) in hopes of obtaining my master's in city and regional planning with a focus on either transportation planning, economic development (urban revitalization), or a combination of the two (more likely).

Political Orientation: Democrat. However, I've been disallusioned and disappointed recently by both democrats and republicans!

Other: I'm actually not new to the forum, I've been reading this website and the forum postings for over a year now and have posted several times myself. But, I just thought I would go ahead and introduce myself since I haven't yet. Glad to meet everyone!

DALLAS is simply a GREAT CITY. I sometimes get the impression that some people either don't realize it or tend to take it for granted.
Stop that!
This place is AWESOME! Let's see if we can make it even better!

occupation: Student at Southwest Missouri State University, economics major and accounting minor.
political orientation: Moderately liberal, more "center" on some issues.
other: I guess a little about why a guy from Springfield, MO, would be hanging around a forum about Dallas/Ft. Worth...I have family in the Metroplex, and through visiting them, as well as other trips over the years, I have come to really love the area. I like the sprawl, the noise--all of it. I imagine this stems mostly from growing up in a town of about 4,500 people until I left for college, but I really do love Dallas/Fort Worth, and I can't wait till I move down there after college. I want to work in banking...maybe commercial real estate or commercial lending.

Funny, that area of the world seems to be a crux of sorts; I meet and know so many people from there. I guess that would fit in to my theory of why the universe begins and ends in one place, and that is in Houston...but it's kind of weird. Yeah.

Very cool. And about everything sort of coming together in Houston--that isn't required before I move to Dallas, right, 'cause I don't think I could handle that! ;)

I'm originally from Highland Park -- but don't "be hatin' on me" because of that.

I've always appreciated urban Dallas. It has accomplished so much -- and still has a great deal of potential. I'd like to move downtown after this prison called law school is over.

Nothing would make me happier than to see a traffic jam on Main Street on a Saturday.

I know we have had a lot new people join lately. How about you tell us who you are?

I suppose I'll take a stab at this.

name: JBB (I like keeping my anonimity, for now)

age: 27, married, no kids yet

specific location: Bedford (home, ducking bricks being thrown by the suburb haters!), Ft. Worth (work)

occupation: department manager for an entertainment related business (again, I'm keeping my anonimity ;) )

political orientation: Conservative, but I don't always vote along party lines

other: I've lived in Tarrant County my entire life and I love this area. I can't imagine living anywhere else. I've been lurking/posting over on the Fort Worth Forum (user name BB) for a few years now and I stumbled across this one sometime back. I lurked for awhile and only recently started posting with any regularity. I feel like I'm quite the architectural and civic novice when compared with many on this board, so I try to keep my mouth shut when I don't know what I'm talking about.

I've learned a great deal about this area from the Ft. Worth Forum and this board. More than I ever imagined I would know. I enjoy reading the discussions and I always feel like I've got a leg up on many of my peers when it comes to what is going on in the area. I have the strong opinion that FW vs. Dallas discussions suck. They get nowhere fast and I feel that what is good for one is good for both. I'm a little partial to Ft. Worth because of my roots, but I really like Dallas and I'm excited about the potential growth in the center core of the city. I really would like to spend more time in Dallas and get to explore and learn more about it.

I've rambled enough. Thanks for the opportunity to post here.

We have let so many great assets (and people) leave for the suburbs over the years, that it will take time to get them back. But we are making strides! It's only a matter of time before we reach a critical mass!
