When I'm driving through Houston I always notice the huge METRO PARK AND RIDE signs above the freeways. Then I look here see little whimpy signs on the frontage road that say DART RAIL STATION. The one on US75 pointing to the Parker Road station was knocked off a while back and has yet to be fixed. Probably If we had the signs like Houston more people would actually know more about it. Anyone have similer ideas??

DART already has huge billboards posted throughtout the metroplex. While I don't think they indicate where rail stations are, they certainly let people know that DART has train sevice. Maybe they can purchase more billboard space though.

I think the other difference is Houston's Metro rail is still trying to get off the ground while DART rail has been up and running for years. What I'm trying to say is, I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone living in Dallas that doesn't know where DART's stations are or that doesn't know light rail is an option for travel here. Whereas in Houston, your average commuter may still not know where the closest rail stops are. You'll notice the only signage for rail stations in London are the "Underground" signs on the street corners.
From what I understand, DART is almost a victim of its own success during rush hour. Anyone know what Metro's ridership looks like?

I agree, GT. I don't think DART needs them. It might be nice to have them as an option on the exit signs, though. Like maybe a little RAIL symbol next to the Park Lane exit on Central, or something like that.

I know for a fact that when you exit park lane, in both directions, there are signs the point you in the direction of the station. I can also think of a number of other areas in close proximity to DART Rail Stations that have similar signage.

I know, but for someone visiting Dallas that may have rented a car to stay with family but that doesn't want to mess with driving downtown, putting a little symbol on certain street exits right next to the street name to let you know "get off here!" would make it easier for them.

I've always noticed that. I would love to see little rail signs. It would make the drive down Central even better.
Sheesh.. what a highway ;)
