Excuse me, what's up with this nutty proposal to limit garbage collection? Hell, they don't even pick up the tree limbs and big trash refrigerator etc, dumpings any longer. Isn't this city already dirty enough? And, with roaming packs of dogs getting into everything else, won't garbage sitting out longer just be one more mess screwing up our once-beautiful, once CLEAN city?

What city are you talking about? where are you?

As a newcomer from Houston...i think the Metroplex is one of the cleanest Metro area in the U.S.

South Dallas..when i first got here..my co-workers told me that i can go anywhere but S.Dallas.

Now to give you some prespective... think of Houston as all S.Dallas...okay a tad better in some areas...but I gurantee you Third Ward and Fifth Ward will be beat S.Dallas in anyday.

I'm a new-bie to the board and all but wherever I have lived in the US, we have always had trash day once a week. Me myself I can't imagine the need for anything more.. I guess its what I'm used to huh?

Perhaps someone can clue me in, does Dallas have a recycling program? If not, they should organize one...

Yes, itis very typical to have trash collected once a week, this is what many of the surrounding suburbs do. In fact the suburb that I grew up in collects once a week. I don't understand why we have it twice a week in dallas now. The city gives us large containers on wheels (90gallon) to keep the trash out of site and out of mind. And I can't imagine generating enough trash to justify two weekly pickups, it's a waste of money.

two parts of south dallas i try to stay away from is the area immediately south of fair park. (grand avenue and malcolm x boulevard) and the neighborhood where 175 forks off of 45. aside from that, lots of pleasant grove and oak cliff are pretty nice. and if you want good mexican food you need to go down to downtown oak cliff (la calle doce is the best). Kessler-Stevens Park in north oak cliff is IMO the prettiest part of dallas. (and the bronco bowl is pretty hip.)
