i have not given much thought to the implications of such a move or how it would be done, but as I sat eating lunch the other day off northwest highway, i thought it would be cool to have rail along northwest, i don't know elevated, not elevated, i just thought an east west crosstown sort of thing might be kinda neat possibly viable, what do you guys think?

I think it would be nice. I would also want a line underneath Preston or on next to/on top of the tollway.

The bubble?
Does that mean like.. the bubble of ultra-rich/ultra-affluent people in HP/UP/North Dallas?

Northwest Highway is the border between Preston Hollow and University Park. I think it would be more than possible, if it could be made economically feasible. Many apartments would face the line (two high rises). Preston Hollow is Dallas, and I doubt if it would be very averse to an additonal dart line.

Preston Road disects Univerisity and Highland Park straight down the middle. It runs buy the golf course and Highland Village shopping center... if DART ran along Preston it would have to be underground through the Park Cities. Preston Road is a narrow four lane undivided road through there... so I wouldn't blame Bubblites for balking at a street level line going down it.

Preston would be really nice. I think there is more potential for a line there than next to or ontop of the tollway, though I am no engineer.

yes that is a given texcolo, but i would bet that they would balk at an underground line going through as well

As a recovering Parkie, I think a rail line on NW Highway would be great. On top of Preston Road would just cause more problems with traffic congestion -- underneath would be great.
For some reason Parkies opposed a tunnel under Mockingbird for fear of giant towers releasing toxic gas. I personally think that all the traffic on Mockingbird releases a ton of toxic gas already.
They should sell tunnels through the Park Cities as an opportunity to get rid of the "undesirables" driving at street level.

That's hilarious...and it would work, too!
