More stats for ya:
The city limits are indeed arbitrary, but according to Wikipedia which purports to use census data, Denver city has 3,600 people per square mile while Dallas has 1,340. Sure, maybe you could finesse the numbers by changing where you count, but in every index I am aware of Denver is a more dense city (including metro-wide)-- I think that the average density of new neighborhoods is higher overall, but I don't have the statistic handy.
As for the point about open space, it may be true that cities aren't really about open spaces but rather about clustering people. With that said, a good park and trail system is a necessary requirement for a truly livable city. Denver has one of the better systems in the country, there is no question.
Here's some more Open Space links for ya:
Boulder County Open Spaces (http://www.co.boulder.co.us/openspace/)
Jefferson County Open Spaces (http://www.co.jefferson.co.us/ext/dpt/comm_res/openspac/leadpg2.htm)
Jefferson County Open Space Maps:
Yes, Jeffco is sprawl personified, but a least it gives a nod to nature. The parks and conservation easements you see help protect wildlife, while they increase property values in the area. How do I know? I've SEEN it.

I don't think anyone asked you expose fools. I sure didn't.
With that last quote, you out and out admited that you ATTACKED me. Why??? I dunno. I thought you said you were outtahere?????
This is a discussion forum... I don't attack you because I don't know you. I do reserve the right to state my opinion of your ideas and the tenor of your argument, though. Your examples of the differences between Dallas and Denver... yes, they strilke me as asinine and meaningless... and basically hostile.
Your LoDo area appears to be an obsolete portion of the city's basic CBD, no longer usable as office space... and inexpensive enough for some degree of urban pioneering. The social forces that created its 26 blocks are similar, but much weaker, than the social forces that created the many square miles of Dallas' center city neighborhoods.
BTW, it would be more convenient for all of us if you posted your photos as thumbnails.
Also... thanks for cleaning up your language...

Does this make any sense at all???

And Deep Ellum and the West End being the obsolete portions of DT Dallas... what's your point???

Texcolo,
Congratulations on your discovery of Wikipedia... of course the data in Wikipedia is entered by the general public, not by professional demographers.
The Wikipedia number for density is phony.
If Municipal Dallas had a density of 1,300 per square mile, and it had a population of 1,300,000, then it would have to have 1,000 square miles in its jurisdiction. But it does not. Dallas County has about 900 square miles, municipal Dallas about half that.
Your maps and material about the public lands outside of the Denver settled area... is interesting. Well, Dallas also has public lands and lakes outside of its settled area... an enormous amount of it.
It's always a good thing to see some information about other cities... but you seem to have too much attitude about your own... personally, I think Denver is cute in its own way... not a bad place... but it doesn't come up to the clout and urban facilities of a city the size of Dallas... nor should it have to...
The image you convey is that of a little boy who wants to win a wee-wee contest... and babbling all day long about his performance.

Isn't LoDo like much more pedestrian and just a better overall urban area than anywhere in Dallas? From the pics I've seen it really does seem that way.

They made a reference to that area on the Weather Channel last night.

The Weather Channel always tries to sound like they have good local knowledge. I remember them saying, freeways like The Stemmons will be slick with a sheet of ice all the way from Lewisville to Dallas.

Yeah, I know. That David Schwarz is going to snap someday. Yeah, he seems all nice now, but you're going to be checking on the weather sometime around midnight, and you'll change the channel only to see him shooting up the place or something.

Or if you're on a cable connection, you could easily host the website yourself. I've got an old computer on the network that's running Windows 2000 (Uptime: Two months) that handles all my webhosting and e-mail services.

Good Job Texcolo. My only suggestions would be to mention something about Cityplace Station being the only subway station in the Southwest as well as something about the inclinators. . . the legnth of Mockingbird Station's escalators (I think longest in Southwest) . . .and where you describe the Victory Station, you might want to change American Arlines Arena to American Airlines Center. . . People might get confused with Miami's AAA.

Hmmm... I guess the Tandy line closing... makes City Place the one and only.
Does anyone have any info on the possible Knox / Henderson Station, or the Love Field Station. Diagrams and articles would be great for the website.
Speaking of which, does anyone have any pics of Oak Cliff stations? I'm in Colorado for a while and pics of OC are hard to come by via Google.

If I get a chance (and if John Ashcroft doesn't call me in for a little visit), I'll see what I can do about taking pictures of the future station locations. The Pleasant Grove line, in particular, has the station locations very well documented, although some locations (like Buckner Station) may not be accessible.
However, don't let my hopeful plans stop anyone else from taking pix... the real world is notorious for getting in the way of my fun projects.
One minor, pedantic note. On the "tax dollars at work" cartoon, the word "Maintenance (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=maintenance&r=67)" is misspelled.

Annnnnnnnd the link to my website on your site is broken. It should either be http://www.ovillachurchofchrist.com/derek/index.html?sub=dart (without the extraneous "#") or http://www.ovillachurchofchrist.com/derek/ . The extra dart snippet (obviously) redirects the central frame to the dart page.. so.. whichever.

I really do like the web page. The sideways version shockwave rail is kind of awkward to me. But for simplification Its really not that bad. Its not too difficult to figure out where you are still.
I forgot what this is going to be used for. is there going to be shops here? Sports bars?
Also, is it free to make your aol webpage? I use aol too.

I posted some pix of Victory Station in this thread (http://forum.dallasmetropolis.com/showthread.php?p=32258#post32258). You can use them if you like (credit http://www.dixie-chicks.com/ if you've a mind to), but they're generally not the best, for the reasons detailed in the post. On the other hand, the station sign came out alright, and there's one shot that shows the double-decker TRE passing through the station. The one of the silver train didn't come out at all. 50% reductions uploaded, original pix available if you need them.

Here are some pictures you can use of the south entrance of the Good-Latimer tunnel, scheduled to be filled in for construction of the Deep Ellum - Fair Park - Pleasant Grove line. I took these a couple of weeks ago, in the morning. As cool as the tunnel looks, I'd wager nobody here would be willing to walk through the tunnel alone at night. Plus, if you drive down Gaston Ave, on top of the bridge, you can see how the tunnel is a barrier, not a gateway, between Downtown and Deep Ellum. I'll take pictures from there (of the future station location) when I get a chance.
Pics half scale, originals on request.

Here are some pix I took yesterday of Lake June Transit Center. Like Addison Transit Center, it's already configured so that it'll be easy to add rail service. Unlike Addison, there are actually plans for this station to be built!
In the picture of the station's sign, you'll see an old, rusty bridge in the background. That's the existing freight railroad. DART's plan will keep this freight route, now used by Dal-Tile, fully operational. I can't recall if this bridge will be replaced (I'm thinking not), but there will definitely be a new bridge built over Lake June road for the LRT.
I was engaged in conversation by one of the patrons. When he realized that I was a DART fan, he asked what DART was doing with those new tracks near the West End station. I told him about the Victory spur, and we talked about whether Carrollton/Irving or Pleasant Grove would get built first. Turns out I surprised him as much as he surprised me... he'd snuck around the back of the transit center to take a pee. :)

That tunnel is a true Dallas landmark. It's sad that it's being filled in. I can't believe they're destroying this work of art while people fight to keep some ugly railroad bridge that goes across the Trinity.
And the tunnel isn't dangerous. I walk through it often on the way to Deep Ellum from downtown. It's just filled with homeless, and they've never been anything but friendly to me as I walk through.
