Did I read correctly that Denton County voted overwhelmigly to create a transportation authority? I think that is great news. Hopefully, a regional transit system will be realized faster than many have imagined!

I read that, as well. I'm very happy about that. I hadn't had a chance to post that article yet or talk about it.

Hopefully, this is yet another stepping stone in the right direction for the regionalised transit!

I have heard some suggest that DART and the T should merge...what does everyone think of that, now that there is the Denton Mass Transit idea?

I could think of nothing better than the formation of a regional transportation authority. It should have been formed fifteen years ago guys and gals.

Realistically, there should have been a push to redesign the Interurban, develop more bus service, and encourage other forms of transporation immediately after WWII, but no, everybody just "had to have" their suburban homes, gas guzzling Buicks and Oldsmobiles, and their two or three kids. Remember, racism and prejudice are one of the founding factors of suburban overexpansion.

And here's something that's bothering me. I was in a debate on the Canyon Creek Homeowner's Association Webboard, and it got to the poing when I realized that these folks are anti-public transporation, and anti-urban. They don't know what they really want, I think.

We got ourselves into quite a mess in terms of transporation. Now we have to get ourselves out of it. And unfortunately, there is little support for regional transit. It's going to be a hard ride, but we, the urbanists (and urban wannabes like myself...), can do it.

People just aren't ready for it. But they will be. I promise, one day, they will.

this is a good thing to, as the traffic in denton county is horrible, especially i-35, is this freeway 20 years behind the times or what! denton proper is unbelievable sometimes, who am i kidding, all the time.
