Developer to buy Burnett Field site
Developers have a contract to buy the historic Burnett Field site in North Oak Cliff to build apartments. The vacant tract at Interstate 35E and Colorado Boulevard once housed a ballpark for the Dallas Eagles baseball team. Developer First Worthing Corp. said that several hundred apartments are in the early planning stages. First Worthing is one of the fastest-growing players in Dallas’ central city apartment market. It is building a 238-unit apartment project on Live Oak Avenue east of downtown and breaking ground on a 221-unit rental complex in Fitzhugh Avenue east of North Central Expressway.

Has this been discussed? From my on foot travels I know there has been a sign there for a long time of a long missed project. If it has been, someone direct me to the thread please. Thanks :)

I have a sneaking suspicion that RTKL is the architect on this project. I saw a rendering here in our office of a small park flanked by apartment buildings overlooking the Trinity with the downtown skyline in the background. (i'm not sure how old the rendering is). And we just did the Live Oak project for First Worthing. If we are infact doing the project, I know it hasn't really started full steam yet. I'll post info here if I find anything out.

Thanks for any info you come across in advance. I found what I had written down that was on the old faded sign at this site.

"Blackard development.
Riverside, a mixed-use community on the shores of the Trinity. Office, retail, residential."

Didn't have a number but had the site blackard.org listed. Here's what I found at Dallas-edd.org from 2001

Mixed-use, $93,000,000, Rearch and Planning stages, est completion 2005. Guess they didn't find what they wanted, so they sold the site.

We just had a meeting where all recently completed projects were celebrated and forthcoming projects were announced. There was no mention of this project and I have heard no one speak of it since I have been here, so I guess the rendering I saw is old and it is a shelved project. Too bad, the rendering is great.
