Jonah. Jonas. either way, this looks more like a skeleton of a monster like fish found and unearthed only a third of the way down.
Is this the new World Trade Center monument? A net to catch in coming planes?

No, he didn't say enough. It looks like a piece of an airplane. Not only does it look like a certain other project (http://www.mam.org), but with the way it looks, thinking back to a lot of the pictures that came out in the days after 9|11, it's making me ill.

Urban, I'd like more detail about what your beef is with this.
In addition, you seem to critisize almost every type of architecture that is discussed. Can you give me examples of what you prefer and why?
note: I am not trying to start an debate about architecture preferences here as I am not as knowledgeable as other forumers. I just know what I like and don't. anyways, I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I am close to being tired of Calatrava's designs, too. I'm not an archetype, but I know what I like. His work reminds me of Mike Brady on the recent spoof Brady Bunch movies. Doesn't matter what the project was, all the models resembled his residence.
I am excited by the prospect of a signature bridge, just wish it blended with downtown a little better. But then again, if we are the emerald city, maybe it does blend.

Personally, I don't think that the design should perfectly blend with downtown. Part of what makes downtown areas unique to me is that nothing is the same, around everyturn there's something new to look at. If it were all the same or "blended" too well then it would be just like some of the developments in further out suburbs where everything looks the same or a large corporate campus. Having a future bridge by him, is I feel, one of the best landmark pieces that Dallas can get. Everone would know it and come to see it (in my opinion)

How would you feel about five bridges (or is it three they are contemplating) designed by him?

I'm not his biggest fan, but I do like that his designs are usually unique in their own settings. I would love to see 3 bridges designed by him with 3 unique designs. I've noticed he has 3 bridge styles that are his mainstains, and his Dallas design is nothing like any of them.

Just thinking, but Frank Lloyd Wright designs suffer from the same uniformity, right?

Its because he doesn't try to understand anything other than FLW. Its very easy to criticize, much harder to understand.

It's not that I don't like his work, it's that this one just seems to not work, in a dreadful sense. It feels like things are still falling, you see? I like a lot of architecture.
But about the uniformity, why do we want more than one bridge designed by one architect? Shouldn't each one be unique? Just wondering.
