I know it sound strange I went out to check the demo at Roos and haskell and found it was done. I mightb have the building on earliewr photos. simply Put I vowed to not to miss another building or piece of prperty along ross, before development so I took some time and walked up ros from carroll al the way to Halland photographed every old building and piece of land i so I would have a record of what was there. Photos to come spoon They may not be worth much now but as time goes by you never know.

Stay tuned

It's not the curiosity and photography that makes us suspect the influence of unauthorized substances... it's just that your initial message looks like it was typed after an all-night bender. :)

Frustrated with Dallas Can! students, Ross Avenue businesses fight back

Dallas Can! Academy bills itself as a second chance for kids who have dropped out or had other issues with school. But it isn't such a blessing for some businesses on Ross Avenue.

Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits banned students last week, posting signs that said "Dallas Can Academy students are NO longer allowed in Popeyes." Ross Food Mart limits the number of students allowed inside, and the nearby Sonic won't serve certain individuals.

Workers at the three businesses say the students fight, steal and smoke marijuana. Other customers end up trapped in the chaos, and commuters complain about the teens, who amble across busy Ross Avenue.

Loitering teenagers can cause problems at shops and malls anywhere, and these businesses aren't the first to set rules to maintain order. But the Popeyes ban put a spotlight on the problem in East Dallas.

The school has responded with a vow to find solutions. Cheryl Rios, a vice president with Texans Can!, umbrella organization for the charter school and nine other academies in the state, began setting up meetings this week as she learned of the Popeyes ban. She wants school administrators and the business operators to work out the problems, and she said she hopes to include the police and representatives from other nearby institutions.

I noticed they are opening a Little Caesar's Pizza in one of the newer retail spaces that have been vacant for quite a while. I haven't had their pizza in 20 years, but I'm glad it's a food establishment and not a GIROS A MEXICO or ACE Cash Express.

Man, I've driven past this "school" at 3PM and had to raise my windows and lock my doors at that very stop sign in front of Popeys Chicken .. I'd feel safer in a jail house shower than in a school room with those kids.

I totally agree. Communities should not tolerate such rowdy behavior. I applaud Popeye's for making such a strong stance; it got the school's attention and hopefully it'll teach these kids a lesson on being civil.

Yes, banning them from greasy chicken will sure "teach them a lesson."

Instead of smoking pot, stealing and eating chicken at Popeyes, why don't those punks get jobs at Popeyes!!

After Zoning Woodard Paint on Ross Ave. Out of Business, Angela Hunt Reconsiders (http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/unfairpark/2010/04/after_zoning_woodard_paint_on_ross.php#more)

Hunt says architect Jack Irwin developed a plan to erect three new buildings that meet the streetscape and landscaping requirements of the PD, and the outside of the structures resemble a café or bookstore with the back left open to accommodate vehicles.
