I'm back on land. Will venture home not too long from now and get back to work on site as well.

Nice Picture! How did you get the chance to take it?

It was taken last August! Just had a hectic turnaround from Murmansk trip to patrol trip, lots of pictures that will be new are actually a season old now.

Actually, I think it was late September - just before I left for Bangor. Anyway, I don't quite have my chronological well-being in order at the moment - but, is the beacon still lit up - or was it temporary. How was the christmas lighting in both Dallas and Fort Worth's downtowns? Is it declining in grandeur, or, has it escalated to grandiose? Anyone?

Miss the home, but, oddly - I enjoyed coming back on land in Bangor to a foot of snow. Very nice. Had 'Christmas' the other day with wife, kid, & the dog - quite the appropriate weather.

Troy, I wasn't asking about the timing, but how you were able to get on the roof of the building or the location that you shot the picture. It is very nice.

The Rocket has been lit at night every time that I have been in Downtown. I wish they still had the neon on the thing. This lighting is a little too subtle for me.

As for the Christmas Lighting on the buildings, every year I think it seems to decline. Downtown Fort Worth hasn't looked the same at night since the tornado and I'm still trying to generate some interest in renewing the Christmas Light Tradition. I'm not having much luck. The most common response is that no one wants to address the issue until the Bank One Tower is demolished.

John, I got on the roof in a similar manner as I have on other buildings. That has been/perhaps was - a typical trait of the photography I prefer for this site. Now, I don't think I have the desire to even try to do such a thing - with conditions as they are on our part of the planet.

I probably won't stop wanting to do it, but, I'll likely have less opportunities to do such unusual photo takes.

Thank you for telling me. I have been lucky enough on a few occasions to get friendly with the building owner and then ask them if I could go on the roof to take pictures, then give them credit on my web site. A lot of times, it works. However, I haven't done this since September.
